CERAMICS | Porcelain and ceramics are the buzzword at the moment when it comes to worktop materials, and this one in particular. This is Fior di Viola 4D by Sapienstone and our clients have been specifying this for kitchen worktops, flooring, shower cladding, bathroom vanity units, and more. You cannot walk through our workshops without seeing it being processed on a machine or waiting to go out for installation.

The veining and pattern goes all the way through the material - this is no surface printed pattern - and it's durable, perfect for a busy home.

DETAILS | We love working with design professionals. They see the details that we see, the veining, the myriad of colours in each slab of stone. For this project, Adelise Morgan-Scully of Elementi Cucina helped her client pick out this slab of Belvedere granite for their kitchen. She could see how it would be a point of quiet luxury in the space, picking up all the colour cues, and yet also be durable and practical for the family.

Though it is a dark granite, the golden veining warms up the space and heightens all the other metallics in the kitchen.

PROJECT | For this contemporary kitchen in Berkshire, we fabricated a stunning Belvedere granite splashback and cladding for the back wall. We crafted the stone to give the illusion of running acrosss the whole wall behind the wall cabinets up to the ceiling. The organic veining and iridescent properties pick up all the colour cues in the scheme.

We also made extra deep quartz worktops from Stone Italiana Luna with a textured finish for the kitchen run and the substantial central kitchen island. A cut out for a recessed sink and Quooker tap, and a waterfall edge add to the luxury feel of the kitchen. Kitchen Designer: Elementi Cucina

NEWS | Statement worktops are not going away. Our managing director Salvatore Caruso is quoted in this month's edition of Kbbreview in a feature on worktop and surface trends.

Classico Marble is the sole fabricator quoted in the article and he says he is seeing "...a significant shift towards materials with bold veining and movement for a year or so now across all materials, from natural stone, quartz to even the latest high-tech porcelains..."

BOOKMATCH | There are some projects and materials that really stand out in your mind. For this project, our customer had selected an incredible series of bookmatched Splendido Quartzite slabs that they wanted for their client's kitchen.

Often as the fabricator, secretly we prefer the stone before appliances and sink recesses are cut into the slab. But for this project, we think this high-tech Gaggenau gas cooktop with the controls fitted on the front apron looks fantastic.
