As the festive season draws to a close, it’s time to think about disposing of your Christmas tree. Whilst it has been the centre piece the holiday, it is essential to dispose of it responsibly. There are many ways to dispose of your tree whilst giving back to the planet.

Tree recycling programmes - Take the hassle out of disposing of your Christmas tree. Book to have it collected and recycled by your local hospice. Book in your tree collection before Monday 6 January 2025 at 11pm.

Compost your tree - great addition to your composting pile. Pine needles decompose slowly and are acidic, making it ideal for acid loving plants.

Wildlife habits - Christmas trees can be repurposed to create shelters for wildlife.

Wood crafting and DIY projects - get creative and give the tree a second life in making coasters, fragrant pot poured or wreaths.

Replanting - if you have a root ball tree, you could plant in your garden.

Avoiding Landfills - one of the most important things to keep in mind when disposing of your Christmas tree is to avoid sending it to landfill. Choose an eco friendly disposal method, your helping to reduce waste and minimise environmental impact.

We were delighted to assist in the Christmas tree collection and recycling campaign on behalf of St Marys Hospice. Last weekend Julian and Alison were part of a 200 strong volunteering group collecting a record 5000 trees raising a whopping £105,000 for the hospice.
