The staircase is coming together nicely now, with the first floor complete.

One of my favourite details so far is the Purpleheart capping on the ash newel posts.

Purpleheart is a rare timber with an incredible natural purple-pink colour, and I've had a small stash sitting in the workshop waiting for the right project.

This felt like the perfect opportunity!

The contrast against the ash is striking, and the colour is completely natural to the timber.

These are the touches that make a staircase truly bespoke.

It's all about the detail.

Another stage completed on this staircase installation.

The galvanised steel spindles are now in place, complemented by bespoke ash handrails and baserails, carefully crafted to showcase the natural grain and figure of the timber.

Not quite finished yet, but it's coming together nicely. Looking forward to sharing the completed staircase soon.

Work in progress….as with all bespoke carpentry, this one is a labour of love, headaches and inventiveness!

I designed and built the staircase, and you can see the beginnings of panels forming in the background…all part of the process! 😆

The plan is for ash bannisters and galvanised steel spindles…but how to drill the holes at the perfect angle…? A bit of workshop ingenuity was required!!!

I knocked up a drilling template with a guide hole set to the correct pitch and used it for every spindle location.

Who knew holes in a banister could be so interesting? It’s all about the detail!

I’ll keep you updated on progress…I’m always up for a challenge!

All of the structure and detailing is now complete, and everything is primed and ready for colour. The clients have chosen a beautiful French Grey finish, which is going to completely transform the space.What was once a wasted area is now becoming a stunning feature with real purpose; combining style, function, and plenty of useful storage. Looking forward to sharing the finished result soon!

This one was a bit special.

The client came to me with a very clear vision; they’d sat around a beautiful large table in a Mediterranean restaurant and wanted something that captured that same feeling for their home. Big, welcoming, and built to bring people together.

Made from solid ash, this is the biggest table I’ve built, with handmade Mediterranean-style tiles set into the centre. The photos show the process from the workshop build right through to fitting the tiles in situ at the house.

A huge amount of work went into this one, but seeing it all come together in its final space made it worth every minute. Most importantly, the clients were absolutely delighted with the finished table.

Projects like this are why I love what I do.

Great to have new followers! Welcome!

I thought I’d show you something of my ‘process’.

The project I’m working on is for a dream bed set up for two little ones.

The clients had limited space, in the eves, but want something beautiful and functional.

I create using pen and paper. It’s gives me space and time to work out dimensions and practicalities. I’m a creative, at heart, so pen and paper is tangible, and works for me.

I send a video of my design and then make any adjustments, on feedback from the clients.

I’ll show you the finished result soon! 👍🏻
