QUESTION,
Will those solid oak brackets take 90kg in weight??
Swipe to find out 😉

But seriously, I may of made a slight miscalculation this week, Monday, checked weather to see if raining? no full sun, sweet…… let’s fit this oak canopy that’s been waiting a while, forgot to check the wind though!!!
On a step ladder all day getting blown around was not the easiest, but alas I live to tell the tale!

Solid prime oak canopy with 1” oak boarding on the top, bolted to the wall, then felt, batterned, tiled, lead work, and lastly the ridge bedded on.

Take that British weather!!

I went and first measured this up last April (final picture)
Yesterday I finished it!

I’m not slow (some may disagree!) but this one really did take its time.
The day after propping up the roof and removing the frame, a lorry decided to take a hard turn around the corner and take both the wall and the porch brickwork with it!

So if anyone has ever had the pleasure of making an insurance claim they will know that these things take a LONG time to finalise.

The prime oak frame has been sat in my workshop then the clients garage for what seems forever.
But at last it gets to show itself off to all who pass it now.
That’s a long awaited tick of the board.

It’s sometimes the smaller jobs that bring more satisfaction!

This morning I got to transform a lovely little family’s front hall.
Those with little ones know how much ‘stuff’ you have and coats and shoes all need a home also!

After looking at buying a standard unit they approached me to build a custom unit.
The ply framework and mdf backing, once painted will blend in nicely and make the long prime oak shelf at the top and three on the left hand side pop out!
A few coat hooks on the back board and the family is ready to enjoy this new piece of furniture.
To top it off the sun was shining also 😊

Fun little project for my partner’s buisness.
will now be serving delicious coffee and pastries every Saturday and Sunday in Modbury!!

So a ply and iroko ‘A’ frame was made to spread the word.
Useing self adhesive acrylic letters cut out by the wonderful local (modbury) it’s sure to catch your attention as you drive by!

Keeping it local all the way with epic coffee from and the tastiest pastries from !!

Why not treat your mum this Sunday 😉
But from the way they sold out last week, be sure to get in early (I didn’t so I missed out!!)
Let’s support local.

P.s glad I cut my nails this morning…… as it made this job soooooo much easier 🤦🏻‍♂️

Happy to be out fitting again.
On a super stormy day it felt nice to be in a beautiful warm home with amazing clients!

Redwood doors and frame, one fixed with an opening pair of French doors.

Fitted with acoustic glass and weather stripping to keep noise to a minimum.

All ready to be painted in time for the festive season.

Nice way to end the week!

👋 hey guys!

It’s been a little while, but I’m still here!

Little cutlery draw made for a returning client today out of prime euro oak and some ply to be stained.
Such a sweet fit it just floated down as the air escaped out the sides.

Even the small jobs are super satisfying 😊

“Do you work on Grade 2 listed buildings?”

Yes I do!
This project was for four new windows. But it had to match existing windows in the property.

The super thin frames, sash styles and Georgian bars made this a time consuming job, but they felt amazing in my hands when they were finally put together.

Single glazing I would usually get others to putty in, it’s a dying art ……..
But on this one I thought ‘why not give it a try myself?’

Keep learning, keep moving forward right!?!

Priced in a day and a half…… 5 days later I finished!!!
I may not of made any money but I learnt a new skill and by the end of it, I was doing a neat job fairly quickly!

So I put this one down to experience. But the clients were overjoyed when they were fitted, which puts a big smile on my face at the end of another satisfying project.

Time to sit down with a good book?
Well now my client can choose which one to read easily with there new prime oak bookcase.
I was commissioned to make a bookcase to fit the size books they had perfectly, with a rounded end to soften the look.
I turned the oak posts and caster feet attachments on the lathe (which is always a bit of therapeutic fun, watching streams of shavings flying off the timber!)
Lastly giving it two coats to match the existing woodwork of the house.
Safe to say they are over the moon with it, and already asked me to price up more work!
