Another install completed yesterday ✅

4.2kW solar PV system with a 7.2kWh battery, along with a full consumer unit upgrade to bring everything up to current standards.

We just managed to get it finished before the rain came in!

Every system we install is properly designed around the property and the customer’s usage, no 30 second online quotes here. We carry out a home visit, assess everything properly, and design the system to suit.

Next installs coming up in Warwick and Kenilworth.

If you’re considering solar or battery storage, feel free to get in touch.

Another smart EV charger installation completed by Jack and Jake ⚡

This time we installed a myenergi Zappi charger mounted on a pedestal, giving the customer a neat solution away from the house wall and right where it is needed.

The pedestal installation is ideal when parking is away from the property or when you want a cleaner finish with easier access to the charger.

The Zappi is ready to make the most of off peak tariffs and can also work alongside solar for even lower charging costs in the future.

Great work from Jack and Jake 👏

Another installation completed last week at a lovely property in Southam ☀️

This system features:

• 28 x AIKO 475W all black solar panels
• 10kW SolaX hybrid inverter
• 21.6 kWh battery storage
• Estimated generation of over 11,300kWh per year
• Enough stored energy to run the home well into the evening and take advantage of cheaper overnight electricity tariffs

The large battery means the customer can store excess solar during the day, then use it later when electricity is most expensive. It can also be charged overnight on a low cost tariff ready for the next day.

The system is expected to save around 11 tonnes of CO₂ over the next 25 years, while significantly reducing reliance on rising energy prices.

A lot of people think solar is only worthwhile in summer, but a system of this size still produces useful energy all year round, especially when paired with battery storage.

If you're considering solar, battery storage or an EV charger, feel free to message us for a free quotation and honest advice.

60% saving on electricity in the first week!
Let our real customers do the talking.

Here is a recent solar installation we completed, along with the customer review that followed.

"After becoming tired of pushy sales teams with the big players in the solar industry, I got in touch with Intolec. Richard was brilliant; visiting and finding out exactly what I wanted before doing a quote and answering email questions promptly with no pressure selling. He and his team were thoroughly professional throughout the installation and his employees are a credit to him. Everything was done and dusted in time and my house was left clean and tidy. I'm really pleased with the system and it was brilliant to have Richard pop back a week later to check all was ok and provide advice and support using the app. I'm pretty sure I would not have had this excellent service and ongoing support with the big companies. Highly recommend."

Thinking about upgrading your fuse board? It’s more than just a new box on the wall

A consumer unit (fuse board) is the safety centre of your home’s electrical system. Many older boards still rely on outdated protection or only protect part of the installation.

When we carry out a consumer unit upgrade, we don’t simply swap the board and leave.

As part of the installation we carry out a full electrical inspection and testing of the property. This includes checking:

• earthing and bonding
• condition of the wiring
• socket circuits
• lighting circuits
• RCD protection and disconnection times

This means any hidden issues are identified and explained before the new board is energised, not discovered later.

The new unit provides modern protection designed to disconnect power extremely quickly if a fault is detected, helping protect against electric shock and reducing fire risk.

At the end you also receive a full Electrical Installation Certificate with test results recorded, so you have documented proof the electrics have been checked and are safe at the time of installation.

For many homeowners the biggest benefit isn’t the new board itself, it’s the complete health check of the property’s electrical system.

How long does solar actually take to pay for itself?

This is usually the first question we get when visiting homeowners.

The honest answer is, there isn’t one single number.

It depends on:
• how much electricity you use
• when you use it
• whether a battery is included
• your electricity tariff

Two houses next door to each other can have completely different results.

What we normally see is this:

Homes that only install panels reduce their bill.
Homes that install panels and a battery change how they buy electricity altogether, because they’re using their own stored energy in the evening instead of peak rate power.

There are also export payments now, so any electricity you don’t use can be sold back to the grid.

Rather than giving rough national averages, we calculate it using your actual usage so the figures mean something.

If you’d like us to estimate it for your home, get in touch and we can take a look at a recent energy bill!

Book your solar visit today!

Following the recent enquiries we’ve had, we’ve set aside a small number of home visits next week for anyone considering solar panels or battery storage.

The visit is straightforward and there’s no obligation. We simply:

• look at your roof space
• check the electrics and meter position
• discuss how you use electricity in your home
• then design a system around that

Every house is different, which is why online calculators and rough estimates are often very misleading. A proper design depends heavily on your usage, not just roof size.

We’ll also explain batteries, tariffs and expected savings in plain English so you can decide whether it actually makes sense for you.

If you’d like us to take a look, just send us a message and we’ll arrange a suitable time.

Real example from a recent installation

We often get asked whether solar and battery actually make a noticeable difference, or if the savings are only small.

Here’s a real day from a system we installed.

During the day the panels charged the battery, and in the evening the house ran mostly from the stored energy instead of buying electricity from the grid.

After around 5pm, when most families are cooking, boiling the kettle, watching TV and using lighting, the property was importing very little electricity at all.

This is the part many quotes don’t explain properly.

Solar panels generate electricity in the daytime, but most homes use electricity in the evening. The battery bridges that gap and is where the majority of the savings come from.

Every property is different, which is why we design systems around usage rather than just filling a roof with panels.

If you’d like us to estimate what a system would do for your home, just send us a message and we’ll happily explain using your typical usage.

What does a solar battery actually do?

This is one of the biggest misunderstandings we hear when visiting customers.

Most people think solar panels power the house all the time.
They don’t.

Solar panels mainly produce electricity during the middle of the day, roughly 10am to 3pm. The problem is most homes use electricity in the evening, when everyone gets home.

Cooking dinner
Kettle and microwave
TV and lighting
Showers and washing machines

Without a battery, any unused solar electricity goes straight back to the grid during the day, then in the evening you end up buying electricity back at full price.

A solar battery changes that!

Instead of exporting it, the system stores the daytime energy and you use it later that night. So your house is running off the sunshine you produced earlier rather than buying it from the supplier.

That’s why batteries make such a big difference in the UK. It’s not about sunshine levels, it’s about matching when electricity is generated to when you actually use it.

We design systems around how a household lives, not just how many panels fit on the roof.

If you’ve ever wondered if a battery would actually benefit your home, feel free to message us and we’ll happily explain using your own usage rather than a generic estimate.
