GROUNDWORKS OPERATIONS MANAGER
Southampton, Hampshire
Salary: £55,000 - £65,000 + Company Vehicle + Performance Bonus
PDQ Kerb Laying & Groundworks is an expanding South Coast groundworks business providing fully managed groundworks delivery gangs to civil engineering, infrastructure, utilities, roads & sewers and residential development projects.
Based in Southampton, we operate throughout Hampshire, Sussex, Surrey and are looking to appoint an experienced Groundworks Operations & Business Development Manager to support the next stage of our growth.
This is not a desk-based role.
We are looking for an individual with strong operational experience, industry credibility and an established network of contacts who can help grow our client base whilst ensuring our gangs continue to deliver safely and efficiently.
The Role
• Manage and coordinate groundworks delivery gangs across multiple projects
• Liaise with clients, Contracts Managers and Site Teams
• Resource planning and labour allocation
• Recruitment and onboarding of operatives
• Site visits and quality monitoring
• Ensure compliance with Health & Safety requirements
• Develop relationships with new and existing clients
• Identify opportunities for additional work and framework opportunities
• Support business growth and expansion plans
Essential Requirements
• Minimum 10 years' experience within groundworks, civil engineering or utilities
• Previous experience as a Contracts Manager, Operations Manager, Site Manager or General Foreman
• Strong knowledge of drainage, deep drainage, roads & sewers, utilities and infrastructure projects
• Proven ability to manage multiple gangs and projects simultaneously
• Excellent communication and organisational skills
• Full UK Driving Licence
Highly Desirable
• Existing relationships with regional contractors, developers and infrastructure companies
• Experience winning work through industry contacts
• SMSTS

• CPCS or NPORS
• Experience with Constructionline, CHAS and SSIP compliance

We are seeking somebody with strong operational experience, excellent industry contacts and a proven background in groundworks, civil engineering or utilities.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
We are seeking an experienced groundworks professional with an extensive network of industry contacts and a proven track record within civil engineering, infrastructure, roads & sewers, utilities or residential development.

This role would suit an individual who has spent many years building relationships within the industry and is looking to use that experience to help grow an ambitious and expanding business rather than spending everyday fire fighting!

You may currently be working as a Contracts Manager, Operations Manager, Construction Manager, Senior Site Manager or similar role and be looking for an opportunity where your industry knowledge, relationships and commercial experience can have a genuine impact.

Groundwork delivery gangs needed, 4x3 man gangs. Must be experienced in all aspects of groundwork including finishings on 278 type work and drainage. The gang is to consist of a ganger a machine op and skilled op. Van and fuel provided. MUST be able to pass a D&A test. CSCS and plant tickets needed. Southampton Portsmouth and surrounding areas.
