It’s that time of year again Spring is coming so lots of aeration & Scarification to do. Once the cold snap moves away we will be full steam ahead.

Summer Aeration is the best form of aeration.
I’ve been out this week aerating several customers lawns & thought I should post a video to explain the benefits.
Unfortunately the machine is too noisy to speak over & so hear are some bullet point benefits of hollow or solid tining your lawns at during the growing season.
No mess due to dry surfaces.
Easy clearance of hollow cores.
Holes remain open longer
Opening up the surface allows any rainfall & oxygen to enter the soil profile more easily.
Improved root development.
Very quick recovery of the lawn surface.
Obviously Autumn aeration still has its place but from personal experience summer aeration wins every time.

I can’t understand why large lawn care companies think it is ok to apply so much nitrogen to customers lawns. 7 days growth!
Luckily for me we are now taking over the complete lawn care treatment so in future the nutrition will be more balanced to producing a healthy lawn without the huge flushes of growth.
