Just a heads-up — the Vickers Roofing Ltd office is closed until the 25th while we’re soaking up the sun in Cyprus 🇨🇾

Being a family-run business means when we take a break, we all take a break! This is some much-needed time for Chris to spend with his beautiful family after working flat out to build a better future for them 💙

That said, our roofing teams are still out holding down current jobs while we’re away — so it’s business as usual on site 👷‍♂️💪

☀️🏠 Re-Roofing Project Update! 🏠☀️

We’re excited to share some of the latest re-roofs we’ve completed in Christchurch as part of our ongoing project. Each roof was stripped back to the rafters and replaced with brand-new concrete tiles, along with new soffits, fascias, and guttering. We also carried out all necessary upgrades to ensure lasting quality and protection. ✅

With the Christchurch phase complete, our team is now moving on to Wi******er, where we’ll be starting a new series of re-roofs this week. We’re bringing the same high standards, and attention to detail to every roof we work on. 💪

🚀 Apprentice Progress Update!

8½ months in, and our 3 apprentices are making amazing strides. Recently, they’ve been working on natural slate roofs, and their skills are really coming together:

🏠 Slate Laying: Cleaner, more precise work with each job.
✂️ Complex Cuts: Mastering dry valleys, hips, dry verges, and abutments using soaker systems.
📏 Measuring & Marking: Learning various methods for perfect accuracy.
🔨 Leadwork: Now confidently step flashing brickwork.

Proud to see them becoming skilled roofers. Keep it up, lads! 👏

🔥 Just wrapped up another quality torch-on flat roof for a previous customer!

✅ Stripped, insulated, and reboarded.
✅ Soprema mineral felt expertly installed.
✅ Fresh fascia and guttering fitted.

Big thanks to my old friend John (aka Johnaldinho) for his top-notch work — the only thing he’s better at than flat roofing is terrorising defenders on a football pitch! ⚽️

🚀 Coming to the final stages of this impressive new build roof installed by the team at Vickers Roofing Ltd! 🔨🏠

We’ve used Glendyne natural slate, paired with a dry valley, verge, and hip/ridge system for a clean, durable finish. The amount of precision cutting for the valleys and solar installations has been a challenge, but the end result speaks for itself.

🎥 Once it’s all wrapped up, we’ll get the drone up to capture just how stunning this roof really is. Stay tuned for the final reveal!

Shoutout to our apprentices Albie, Liam and Riley – absolutely smashing it on this new build!
They’ve taken on over 75% of the felt and battening on this roof, working together with barely any input from us. Not bad for three 16-year-olds just 7 months into their apprenticeships!

And it’s not just this job—they’re progressing in every part of roofing. What really stands out is their attitude. Hardworking, switched on, and not afraid to get stuck in.

I’m a big believer in hands-on learning—let them dive in, make a few mistakes, figure things out, and grow from it. That’s how you turn apprentices into skilled tradesmen.

At this rate, they’ll be fully qualified and running their own jobs in no time.

Special mention to Charlie – he jumps in to help out whenever he’s not at college. He may be chasing a career in football, but when he’s with us, he gives it 100%. If he ever changed his mind, I wouldn’t hesitate to offer him an apprenticeship.

Top work all round – proud of the whole team.

Week Wrapped Up in Corfu! 🇬🇷 ☀️

We’ve spent the past week roofing areas of this estate—last min thing again but a beautiful place to work! Flying home today, later than expected but looking forward to getting stuck into our other projects tomorrow.

Big thanks to Dave French Carpentry and Sean from KS Roofing for their help, as well as members of our own team—Ricky, Liam, and Riley—for the hard work and dedication they bring to the business.

We’ve met some top lads from other trades this week, had plenty of laughs, and enjoyed a few well-earned beers with everyone in the evenings.

Great way to end a busy trip! 🍻

A big shoutout to my old work colleague and friend, Dave Callaway, on his retirement. Well earned, mate! The roofing game is tough on the body, and after years of graft, you deserve to put your feet up.

Dave was one of a handful of people who helped teach me the trade, and he’s someone I’ve always had a lot of respect for. Wishing you all the best in your retirement mate —enjoy it! 🍻
