Strange times indeed, when I feel obliged to say a massive thank you to the UK Government.

Like most employers we had no idea what the situation would be, when it came time to claiming the furlough payments from the Gov. We knew we had to pay our team promptly (like always) but we were expecting the process to take an age, probably get knocked back for not filling the forms in correctly, have to start over and then not be paid the full amount....so it came as a huge and extremely welcome surprise that we were paid the claim in full, and in under a week from submission-awesome.

Due to the sacrifices we have all made, I am sure that this situation will start to resolve itself soon, but in the meantime its a massive weight off our minds that we are going to be able to continue the Furlough payments to our team.

So.... Massive thanks to the UK Government from us at SEC-Marine, and for what its worth we think your doing a cracking job.

We have made a start on our first non marine EV Project.

To further broaden teams skills we have decided to make a start on our first non marine EV project, and for the vehicle we have chosen a super cute classic a ’72 Mini Moke.

We will be installing the latest and most efficient type of 3 Phase SRIPM Motor (Synchronous Reluctance Internal Permanent Magnet).
We have already Purchased the complete 75KWH battery from a low mileage Tesla model X, and we will start to strip the battery module down to its individual cells in the next few days.
We will fit the re purposed batteries in a custom fabricated waterproof battery box with water cooling.
Once the Car is Complete and functioning we will strip it down and then do a complete restoration and respray etc, the car is a dry stored Australian import and rot free, so the restoration should be cosmetic only.

In such a lightweight Vehicle, performance and (or) range should be impressive, with predicted power to weight ratio of 240BHP/tonne, we would be firmly in Lotus Elise territory, and upto 200 miles of smiles.

….Updates to follow as the project progresses.
