At AE Renewables, we just installed our 54th heat pump—a 300-litre Joule cylinder with a 3m² coil. We removed the old oil boiler and tank and discovered a pinch point in the pipework—so we replaced it with 28mm copper to ensure perfect flow. As always, we replaced all radiator valves—no leaks, just top performance!

🔥 Another challenging heat pump installation underway! 🔥

Before we even started this project, we lifted the floorboards and discovered the property was running on an old single-pipe heating system… and it was absolutely full of sludge and dirt. 🤦‍♂️

There was only one way to do it properly.

✅ Full copper repipe throughout
✅ Pipework cut into the walls and hidden for a clean, high-end finish
✅ Brand new Vaillant AroTHERM Pro 5kW heat pump
✅ 210L Vaillant uniSTOR Pure hot water cylinder installed
✅ Radiators connected using TBSE (Top Bottom Same End), giving around 5% more output than traditional BOE (Bottom Opposite End) connections, while also making installation and future servicing much easier.

Sometimes you uncover problems you simply can’t see until the floorboards come up. Rather than taking shortcuts, we rebuild the system properly so it performs efficiently for years to come.

Quality installations aren’t just about the heat pump—they’re about everything behind the walls and beneath the floors.

One of the most challenging projects we’ve completed to date…and our 53rd heat pump installation.

This property had suffered from heating issues since it was built. Incorrectly installed primary pipework meant the underfloor heating, radiators and the rest of the system had never operated as they should.

We installed a new 12kW Vaillant aroTHERM Plus heat pump and completely corrected the hydraulic design by installing 40 metres of new 35mm copper primary pipework, reusing the existing 300-litre hot water cylinder, identifying and rectifying the faults throughout the system, and balancing and commissioning the underfloor heating to achieve the correct flow rates and pump settings.

Working in a loft during 35°C heat certainly made this one memorable, but seeing the whole system finally performing efficiently made every bit of effort worthwhile.

A heat pump is only as good as the design and installation behind it. By correcting the underlying issues and converting the property to a properly designed heat pump system, we’ve given the customer a heating system that now performs reliably and efficiently.

This one took a little longer to get over the line while we waited for the customer’s new three-phase electrical supply ⚡️—but it was definitely worth the wait!
