βοΈ WINTER IS COMING βοΈ
Here is some advice to keep your heating system going during the winter months.....
π₯ Get your boiler serviced. Boiler servicing can fix faults before they become a serious problem. Also, servicing gives your boiler the best chance of not breaking down when you need it.
π₯power flushing is the quickest and most effective way of removing blockages and sludge from your heating system for improved performance and efficiency of your central heating system
π₯ Bleed your radiators. If your radiators are cold at the top and hot at the bottom they may just need bleeding. Remember you may have to top up the pressure if you have a sealed system to between 1 bar and 1.5 bar when the heating is off and the radiators are cold. (All part of a service)
π₯ If your condense pipe from the boiler terminates outside make sure it is at least 1-1/4β or 32mm in diameter and has a good fall to drain. A frozen condense pipe is the most common call out fault in the depths of winter. A correctly installed condense pipe should not freeze.
π₯ Run your central heating for at least an hour a day during the colder months β even if youβre going away β to make sure it keeps running smoothly. We also suggest running the heating a couple of times in the summer months for the same reason, if only briefly.
π₯ Lagging the pipes in the loft with insulating material as when water turns to ice it can lead to burst or damaged pipes.
π₯ Avoid putting furniture in front of radiators as this could absorb all the heat and disrupt the convection currents a radiator generates. Use thick curtains and rugs to prevent heat being lost at night and open curtains during the day.
π₯ Install a new boiler. If your current boiler is giving you grief now, be proactive and change it before it becomes an emergency. We can supply and fit a new Boiler.
