For this award-winning heating installation, Nu-Heat Underfloor Heating & Renewables provided the technical design and supply; MPK Plumbing & Gas Services Limited executed the installation to an incredible standard; and Southern Carpentry Group managed and coordinated every stage of the build, ensuring that all elements, from structure to system, came together seamlessly.
It’s a project that reflects the power of partnership, where each specialist brings their best to achieve one outstanding result. designed NIBE air source heat pump system, integrating both heating and domestic hot water functionality with an electric backup.

The installation was designed to maximise efficiency, reliability, and serviceability, and the finished result went on to win recognition from Nu-Heat for excellence in design ex*****on and overall presentation.

System Design & Components

The system follows Nu-Heat’s C21 configuration, featuring:

A NIBE F2040 air source heat pump, providing primary heating and domestic hot water.
A 100-litre buffer tank and a high-performance EnergyPro HP unvented cylinder.
A combination of underfloor heating manifolds and a radiator circuit, each independently controlled via smart zoning.
Full weather-compensated controls through the NIBE SMO20 controller, optimising efficiency across varying ambient conditions.
Correctly installed flow and return temperature sensors, outdoor temperature sensors, and electrical controls, as detailed in the Nu-Heat docking schematics.

All pipework and wiring followed the manufacturer’s guidance for Part G3 discharge safety, Part L insulation standards, and MCS-020 compliance, ensuring the system can be fully certified under renewable energy standards

Installation Details

Our SCG team handled every stage of the install internally, from first fix to commissioning. Key details include:

All primary and secondary pipework installed in 28mm copper, fully insulated with Armaflex Class 0 laggingto prevent heat loss and condensation.
Flow balancing and hydraulic separation achieved through the Nu-Heat buffer and dedicated circulators for underfloor and radiator circuits.
MagnaClean HP filtration integrated for system protection and long-term efficiency.
Full electrical integration carried out to Nu-Heat’s schematic standard, including individual fused spurs, DIN-rail mounted meters, and isolators for each component.
Optional secondary domestic hot water loop capability pre-piped for future expansion.


Finishing Touches

· Beyond the technical build, the plant room was finished with Altro Whiterock hygienic wall cladding, giving a clean, clinical aesthetic while ensuring compliance with hygiene and durability standards.

· Lighting was designed to highlight the precision of the installation, with geometric LED panels enhancing visibility and presentation for maintenance and client handover.

· The result is not only a high-performance heating and hot water system but a visually striking installation that represents the SCG standard, neat, organised, and engineered for longevity.

A customer asked me how much it cost to do this job....

I answered him: £1500

He said: So expensive for this job?

I asked: How much do you think it would cost you?

He answers me: £800 maximum... That's a pretty simple job right? !"

- For £800 I invite you to do it yourself.

- But.... I don't know how to.

- For £800 I'll teach you how to. So besides saving you £700, you'll get the knowledge for the next time you want

- It seemed right to him and he agreed.

- But to get started: you need tools: A floor sander, edging sander, chop saw, jig saw, multitool Respirator, dust extraction equipment etc...

- But I don't have all these equipment and I can't buy all of these for one job.

- Well then for another £300 more I'll rent my stuff to you so you can do it.

- Okay, he says.

- Okay! Tuesday I'm waiting for you to start doing this work

- But I can't on Tuesday I only have time today.

- I'm sorry, but I'm only available Tuesday to teach you and lend you my stuff. Other days are busy with other customers.

- Okay! That means I'm going to have to sacrifice my Tuesday, give up my tasks.

- I forgot. To do your job yourself, you also have to pay for the nonproductive factors.

- That is? What is this?"

- Bureaucratic, tax, vat, security, insurance, fuel etc.

- Oh no!... But to accomplish these tasks, I'm going to spend more money and waste a lot of time!

- Do you have them? You can do it to me before?"

- Okay!

- I'll make you all the material you need. Truck loading is done Monday evening or Tuesday morning you'll have to come by 6 loading the truck. Don't forget to be on time to avoid traffic jams and be on time

- At 6??? Nope! Too early for me! I used to getting up later.
..

- You know, I've been thinking. Y ' all better get the job done. I'd rather pay you the £1500. If I had to, it wouldn't be perfect and it would cost me a lot more.

Full heating conversion in a huge loft space.

Usually having to fit cylinders in tight spaces this was nice to have a free wall to work our magic on.

Downstairs toilet in stubbington.

We removed all the boxing and managed to get the pipes under the floor and in the wall, moving the main stopcock to under the new vanity unit.

Managed to use some of the worktop to carry on round onto the window cill.

Managed to get the heating pipes into this room to for a little towel rail.

With a slimline wall hung toilet it really give this room extra space.

Lovely change around on this main bathroom in stubbington.

Removing the bath to fit in a nice fiora anthracite shower tray.

A special order vanity unit from France fitted to suit gap that we had.

Customer has since competed the decorating in the room.

Loved doing this new en-suite with the large format marble tiles.

We Knocked the wall down and reconfigured the lights to suit the new layout.

Small groundwork’s job we did in locksheath.

The customer wanted a new waste and cold water in their garage for a washing machine and possible a future sink.

This tired old en-suite in whiteley with a cracked sink and leaking shower needed a complete lift to match the rest of the lovely house.

The customer came up with some lovely ideas in this one which we brought to life and they absolutely loved it.

We extended the wall to make the shower tray bigger and the alcove for the basin, adding in two little recess’s with their own lights.

The lovely bespoke granite worktop with the chevon tiles really stands out. All the tiles seem to complement each other and male it look like a hotel bathroom.
