Pre flea checklist

We receive a number of callouts for fleas. We always submit a checklist to conduct by the clientele before our arrival.

We don’t send this checklist for the good of our healths this checklist is to ensure a successful treatment and must be 100% conducted by the clientele before our arrival This is not a negative post but this Should always be conducted by the clientele before our arrival, should you require a flea job? The checklist is as follows.

 PRE-FLEA TREATMENT CHECKLIST

To ensure the flea treatment is as effective as possible, please complete the following before our arrival:

Bedding & Fabrics

☐ All human bedding (sheets, duvet covers, pillowcases, blankets, etc.) must be washed on a hot wash between 60°C and 90°C.

☐ All pet bedding, blankets, cushions, and washable soft furnishings must also be washed on a hot wash (60°C minimum).

☐ Once washed, items should be dried thoroughly and stored away until treatment is complete.

Vacuuming

☐ Thoroughly vacuum all carpets, rugs, laminate flooring, skirting boards, upholstered furniture, and pet resting areas.

☐ Empty the vacuum cleaner immediately after use and dispose of the contents in an external bin.

Decluttering

☐ Remove as much clutter as possible from floors to allow access to all treatment areas.

☐ Clear under beds, behind furniture, and around skirting boards where fleas commonly harbour.

Food & Kitchen Items

☐ Cover or store away all food items.

☐ Put away all crockery, cutlery, cooking utensils, and food preparation equipment.

☐ Cover fish tanks and switch off air pumps during treatment.

Pets & Occupants

☐ All pets and occupants must vacate the property before treatment begins.

☐ Ensure all pets have received appropriate flea treatment from a veterinary-approved source. Failure to treat pets may result in re-infestation.

After Treatment

☐ Do not re-enter the property until the advised re-entry time has elapsed (normally 2–4 hours, as advised by your technician).

☐ Avoid vacuuming or washing treated areas for at least 3 weeks where possible to allow the insecticide to remain effective.

☐ Some flea activity may continue for up to 2–3 weeks after treatment as emerging fleas come into contact with the residual insecticide.

Thank you for your cooperation. Following this checklist will significantly increase the effectiveness of your flea treatment and help achieve complete control of the infestation.

***THIS IS YOUR WARNING ABOUT THE COMING SWARMS.
You better BEE-lieve it.
It is that time of year.
As many of you know, I’m a beekeeper.
In a matter of weeks several of you will start messaging me concerned about a swarm of bees in your yard.
I get the calls every year for help.
OKAY, HERE IS WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
It IS a swarm … NOT a hive.
A swarm is typically a clump of bees all packed together with the queen in the middle.
You sometimes find them hanging from a tree or congregating on a part of your house or even on a car.
Swarms typically happen in the spring when for some reason bees leave an existing hive — too crowded, destroyed, etc. — and go looking for a new place to live and make a hive.
They swarm in a bundle while scout bees go out and look for a new, better location.
Once a spot like a tree hollow is found they move in and start making comb.
These bees will go anywhere — even in small spaces behind a wall or in a section of roofing.
DON’T WORRY, when honey bees swarm they are NOT aggressive.
Yes, they are buzzing around, but they are NOT looking to sting.
They will leave you alone as long as you don’t bother them.
Do NOT run past waving your arms in a panic.
THAT will get you stung.
Just walk past calmly and they ignore you.
SO, WHAT TO DO?
Well, a swarm will usually move on within a few hours.
PLEASE DO NOT HARM THE BEES.
If you have a swarm or a hive on your property in middle Tennessee — yes, you can contact me for help.
But even better, contact your county beekeeper’s association.
They can help to remove the bees.
When I do it, I’ll take the swarm and put them in a bee box on my property.
Just like that — I have a new hive.
Again, never harm or kill honey bees.
HONEY BEES ARE AN AMAZINGLY PRECIOUS RESOURCE.
(I do not feel the same about yellow jackets, wasps and hornets.)
Hope this helps.
