The first real glimmer of sun this year and we managed to capture the first batch of completion photos following a full house renovation and extension work in Birkdale, Southport.

The project involved the creation of a single storey extension and full loft conversion. Retaining period features with the Clients own decoration and sense of style adding the finishing touches.

A great blend of modern and traditional details in a period property.

Another recently completed double storey extension looking glorious in the sunshine.

The simple brick palette with soldier brick course and decorative tile detailing ties in with the existing house as well as the new roofline.

The house benefits from wonderful views over the local fields and daylight is enhanced to the main bedroom with a vaulted ceiling adding more volume and light to the room.

A large sliding window allows unobstructed views over the surrounding landscape.

Really pleased to catch up with Liz at and gain some insight into the completed project in Formby.

A family home moving from one generation to the next, the brief involved a wholesale full house renovation with double storey extension to a late 1800's cottage.

A modern extension to the rear aims to maximise south facing sunlight and garden views with more traditional fenestration to the front elevations. The new extension replaces an older conservatory whilst blending old and new with a crisp rendered finish.

The space opens up and sits within the landscape providing a perfect backdrop for day to day family life.

Internal images to follow.

Really pleased to catch-up with the Client for this open plan kitchen redesign in .

The stepped facade
was included to reduce the impact on neighbouring windows and was utilised to create a cosy dining booth, table and bench. A large feature island connects the remaining kitchen space and allows for family interaction whilst preparing and cooking food.

The roof lantern and L-shaped bifold doors have been positioned to maximise the south facing sun. Even on an overcast day the space is bright and airy and provides an excellent family space at all times of the year.

Did you know today is National LEGO Day?
Having routed through the loft I've finally managed to dig out my own childhood bricks for the little ones to get stuck into. So unleash your creativity, and let's build some memories—one incomplete structure at a time! 🏰🚀

Another completed project in showcasing a ground floor extension and downstairs internal reconfiguration.

The extension has a clean form and finish which appears simple in nature but the project had to overcome site challenges such as clay ground, a United Utilities foul drain running across the site, limited site access and shared rights of way with neighbours.

The property had previously been extended and we were able to work through the design process with the Client maximising the space that was underutilised versus building a larger extension that would have cost more and had a greater impact on neighbours.

The extension nestles nicely in the landscape whilst respecting the design of the existing house.

A few stills from the completed project in Rufford taken last week. It was great to work on this period property located in the Rufford Park Conservation Area, which provided challenges from a Planning perspective but also from a build perspective.

The aim was to blend the new design with past extensions and to not impact existing first floor windows. This led to the inclusion of a Crown roof design - a partly pitched and partly flat roof layout. This had the benefit of blending in with the existing pitched roofs externally whilst creating a dramatic vaulted interior to match the existing high ceilings.

The result is a space filled with natural light and key views out to the south facing garden as well as an open plan living, dining and kitchen space.

Delighted to have submitted Planning Applications for this farmhouse in Haskayne, West Lancashire. The brief was to create sympathetic additions to the existing property whilst providing additional accommodation such as a Study, Sunroom and additional bedroom at the sides and rear of the property. Each space aims to maximise views out to the rural surroundings whilst also retaining the charm of the main house.

A new rendered finish with ashlar detailing is proposed over the existing brickwork to blend the existing house and extensions together. It also had the functional benefits of providing additional waterproof protection given its exposed location in the West Lancashire Green Belt.

Thanks to JAF Studio for the visuals.

It's always a great moment when you can stop by a Clients home after a project is complete, have a cup of tea and talk through the whole experience.

Seeing a project come to life from initial planning and detailed drawings is always fulfilling. It is a great moment to see how Clients occupy their new space and the interior styles they choose.

This project in Scarisbrick takes inspiration from its semi rural setting. The Clients have used timber detailing and soft colours to create a calming family space and well as some bespoke joinery pieces such as the feature media wall to create distinct zones in the open plan area.

After finally managing to get a break in the relentless Autumn rainfall, I managed to have a catchup with the Client and Contractor at this property in

Large sliding doors open onto the garden and the kitchen has been repositioned to create an open plan, kitchen, dining and living space. A utility and downstairs toilet have also been incorporated into the design keeping the kitchen free of typical household items.

The extension also incorporates skylights and feature log burner bringing a cosiness to the space.

Another project completion.

It was great to sit down with the Client and Builder yesterday to get some completion photos and have an open discussion about the whole project from start to finish and how they have found adjusting to the new space.

There can be a temptation for homeowners to make an extension as large as possible, but we think a well proportioned and well designed space can deliver a Client a project that ticks all the boxes without breaking the budget.

It was pleasing to see the exposed painted steelwork (bolts and all) on show in this single storey extension. Natural light flooded the space with large apex glazing facing onto the garden.

A happy Client and well done to the whole build team.
