My name is Ian Birch and I have been a builder since 1978. I started as an apprentice stone mason in Otley, West Yorkshire and since then have worked for many of the UK's leading building contractors in roles from foreman to contract manager. My experiences during this period include working on the restoration of ancient buildings, working closely with architects, structural engineers, archaeologi
