Garden Bar — Exterior Lighting 💡

A continuation of a recent garden bar project, with 7 up/down wall lights fitted with Aurora Lighting lamps installed along the new timber fencing.

All wiring has been fully concealed within the fence for a clean finish, with the lighting controlled from the switch we previously installed inside the bar.

The switch is supplied from a fused spur off the local ring final circuit, providing a neat and practical way to control the external lighting.

A simple addition that makes a big difference to the finished garden — especially in the evening. 👌

A recent external lighting installation completed at a local school, providing improved lighting along the access route and surrounding areas. ⚡️

The project included the installation of 17 evenly spaced Ansell Lighting ‘Tauro’ bollard lights, with the existing ducting utilised to route the SWA cable between each bollard. All joints were concealed within IP-rated WISKA UK Ltd boxes, with care taken to maintain the continuity of the SWA earth throughout.

The bollard circuit was routed from the board room, above the ceiling on cable basket, with the cable neatly secured with cable ties and metal cable ties at 1m intervals for appropriate support. The cable was then clipped down the external wall before entering the ground and connecting into the existing ducting.

We also installed a new Ansell Lighting external lamppost which included excavating a trench between the end of an existing external lighting circuit and the new lamppost.

The complete system is controlled by a timeclock and photocell, operating through a contactor for automatic switching.

A neat, robust installation with careful attention to cable management, mechanical support, earthing continuity and IP protection throughout. 🔧⚡️

A fresh electrical installation for two brand-new outbuildings.

With the existing building removed and two new spaces taking its place, we made use of the existing SWA supply that had previously fed the old outbuilding. The cable wasn’t quite long enough for the new layout, so we extended it while correctly tagging and bonding the steel wire armour to ensure the SWA earth remained continuous.

From there, we installed a new FuseBox metal-clad consumer unit with individual RCBO protection, providing separate 20A radial circuits to each outbuilding. With one of the radial circuits also supplying an IP rated external socket.

Lighting was kept simple and practical, with a dedicated 6A circuit supplying all three lights. Each light is controlled by its own microwave sensor, with the external fitting configured to operate only when the ambient light level drops below 10 lux and movement is detected.

All the Scolmore International accessories were installed at heights and positions chosen by the client, making sure the finished installation worked around how each space will be used. The entire installation was completed in surface-mounted conduit, with everything neatly installed and labelled throughout.

A clean, robust installation designed around the client and the finished buildings. ⚡️

Improving safety, compliance and long-term maintenance was the focus of this emergency lighting upgrade across 3 residential blocks. ⚡

This project involved replacing all existing light fittings with combined emergency microwave sensor LED fittings, installing a total of 33 fittings (11 in each block). The new fittings provide energy-efficient lighting while ensuring reliable emergency illumination in the event of a power failure.

The existing photocell-controlled contactor was removed and replaced with a dedicated emergency lighting key switch, allowing routine function testing to be carried out safely and efficiently.

To make future maintenance straightforward, every emergency light was individually numbered and recorded within three new emergency lighting log books—one supplied for each block. This provides clear identification of every fitting, making monthly and annual testing much easier for the client.

The original fuse boards, which had previously been switched by the contactor, were no longer required as distribution boards. Rather than disturbing the existing MICC wiring, which was already glanded into the metal enclosures, we completely gutted each fuse board, removing all of the original protective devices and internal components so that only our maintenance-free joints remained inside. Each enclosure was then fitted with a new cover and relabelled to reflect its new purpose as a junction box, providing a neat, practical and professional finish while preserving the integrity of the existing MICC installation.

Every aspect of the installation was completed with attention to detail, leaving the client with a fully compliant, well-documented emergency lighting system that’s straightforward to test and maintain for years to come.

A simple lighting upgrade that has completely transformed the appearance of this property.

For this installation, we supplied and fitted 4 exterior up & down wall lights, carefully positioning each fitting to create a balanced wash of light across the brickwork and highlight the features of the home.

All cabling was concealed within the walls, ensuring a clean, seamless finish with no visible surface wiring—allowing the lighting to be the main feature while maintaining the property’s aesthetics.

It’s a great example of how well-planned exterior lighting can enhance both the appearance and security of a home, day and night.

A clean and modern lighting upgrade completed for another happy customer.

We installed 3 PIR-controlled wall lights on the existing lighting circuit, providing automatic illumination whenever movement is detected, improving both security and convenience.

To further enhance visibility along the side passage, we also installed a high-output floodlight, supplied from the local ring main via a switched fused spur fitted with a 3A fuse, ensuring the circuit is correctly protected and fully compliant.

A practical solution that delivers reliable, energy-efficient lighting exactly where it’s needed, while maintaining a neat and professional finish throughout.

Another neat lighting installation completed, transforming this staircase with 7 recessed LED stair spotlights for improved safety and a modern appearance.

To achieve this, we extended the existing ring main into a switched fused spur, providing a suitably protected supply for the lighting circuit. All cabling was chased into the walls and filled, leaving everything ready for decoration and ensuring a clean, professional finish with no surface wiring on show.

The finished result provides subtle low-level illumination across the full staircase, enhancing both the practicality and aesthetics of the space while maintaining a discreet look throughout.

⚡️ Garden Power Installation Completed ⚡️

A recent outdoor power project completed for a customer requiring reliable power supplies at opposite ends of the garden.

Power was taken from the existing ring final circuit via a switched fused spur, providing local isolation and protection for the new installation. From here, we supplied two weatherproof outdoor sockets, with the first socket fed through ducting that had been installed during previous landscaping works. The circuit was then extended approximately 40 metres to a second socket located at the far end of the garden.

Where suitable burial routes were available, cabling was installed underground for a discreet finish. In areas where this wasn’t possible, cables were securely clipped and supported to maintain both safety and appearance.

The final socket was positioned on the edge of a flower bed to provide a dedicated supply for a future robotic lawnmower installation. To ensure a robust and long-lasting mounting solution, a custom support frame was fabricated using 41mm x 41mm Unistrut, with the posts driven over 1 metre into the ground for maximum stability.

Another tidy, practical installation completed with durability and future use in mind. ✅
