Two very similar panels of work, both Tudor bricks a red and buff, again huge thanks to Taylors Reclaims for supplying these rare Tudor examples.

Both panels ruled off at 2mm, the reds have been pencilled with a distemper to make the joints look smaller, very common practice in the 15-17 century prior to tuck pointing. A highly skilled application.

A few pictures and motion shots of today, a polychromatic panel using Newmarket buff bricks supplied by Taylors Reclaims a black stopping mortar layed in and a blue ribbon laid on top.

Polychromatic tuck pointing was popular for a short period in Georgian times usually a red stopping or black stopping with the opposite coloured ribbon on buff brick or red.

Come and see us at Build for the Future East Midlands on the 23rd April to see some live demonstrations of tuck pointing (olde English tuck & pat). we will be displaying various other panels on the day with a full exhibition set up.

Highgrove Master Masonry LTD are going to be demonstrating traditional tuck pointing ( olde English tuck & pat ) the ifrst used in the uk towards the end of the 17th century and widely used in the 18th century, as part of our sister event, Heritage for the Future on 23rd April at Lincolnshire Showground

Tuck pointing is a skill of deception making ordinary brickwork look like gauged brickwork. Tuck pointing is widely seen on brick & stone buildings, usually visible in town & city centres and some country buildings on arches and finer detailed work.

The skill involves the use of coloured mortars and fine stuff ribbon, the coloured mortar matches the brick colour and ribbon laid on top to give the deception of a small lime mortar joint.

We will be showcasing various styles of masonry jointing / pointing and various panels of masonry on the day for viewing on our exhibition including a gauged brickwork panel.

Book now to enjoy both events on the day www.buildforthefuture.co.uk
