With the ongoing soaring temperatures we are having in England, and most of Europe, we have to plan our gardens for the future differently. Think carefully about planting, and whether most perennials, shrubs will flourish in future seasons.

I love grasses, adding texture and movement. Think about adding drought tolerant plants to your borders, adding texture and contrast to them too. Perennials like, lavender,
Sedum, Achilea, Euphorbias, and many more do thrive.

In June, on my barren lawn in my tired garden in Donington, knowing I was throwing cash away in buying multiple perennials, for poor soil borders this spring, which most hadn't survived, even after adding tons of compost.

So I decided to remove an area of tired lawn, and add thirty plus mixed grasses, and a few structural contrasting perennials of blue Salvias, silver eryngiums, Mauve Verbena B, White Liatris, White Gaura.

Now With over fifty plants planted, there is still some room for Stipa gigantea, Calamagrostis Karl forster grasses. Lovely to see movement in a border which all can cope well in drought season we are having.

If you are considering a planting plan, or ways to bring your garden back to life, I highly recommend Judi Samuels Garden Design .

I am currently on rest, following a medical procedure last week, but I aim to be back maintaining my clients gardens, from next week, or latest the week after. For the rest of this season, I only have two four weekly plans from September left available for the season which ends in December.

Keep hydrated all, both you and your garden the best you can, and enjoy the shady areas in your garden.

Thank you

A big thank you to Green Lane Nurseries Outlet , Gosberton, and the help of Judi Samuels Garden Design ,in creating a grassy themed new border this weekend.

By reducing dull turf ,and adding movement and texture into my garden was key.

Thirty grasses planted yesterday, time to add subtle blue hues of
'salvia blue suede shoes'
and Verbena violetta. Another trip to Green lane for blue grasses this morning too.

Have a nice Sunday in your garden.

Climate change is certainly affecting our weather patterns with extreme heat or rains. Today was a hit one for gardening, luckily the vast garden near Holbeach has plenty of shaded areas. Watering is vital for the plants and the creatures that visit your garden. Bird baths, bowls saucers all helps the birds and hedgehogs.

Enjoy your garden in this extreme heat for May. Hoping you have dappled areas to recharge in your garden.

A few pics of gardening in the last two weeks. Am happy to discuss your gardens, if you may be wanting help on a regular basis. I have a few four weekly plans available from mid June. Happy to arrange a garden viewing or discuss your garden.

Thank you

As part of my birthday week, I decided a non gardening day, today had the pleasure of riding in two ww2 Lancaster bomber planes.

I say two, the front half nx611 Mk7, and the rear from another Lancaster whilst repairs are being done, to make it fully air worthy. A ride, tour, lunch, cream tea at

I chose the rear gunner port, how air crew survived in missions is amazing exposed to severe elements.

My late father ,served at RAF Wickenby Aerodrome, Museum & Cafe in 626 squadron, on Lancaster's.

Bloody amazing experience💙

Back to gardening mode from tomorrow. 🌿 Slots from June available on a four week plan only. No weekly or fortnightly available at present.

Nice to do some early morning planting in the humid air, today was forecast to be raining all day, now no longer. Planting up or adding texture and colour to any border is rewarding, for sunny or shade borders.

This coming week I am working at three new gardens, and the small thing of a flight in a Lancaster bomber, as a birthday treat.

Today I will visit the open gardens in Kirton Underwood near Bourne, as well as an antique fair at bomber command museum, in Lincoln.

Following enquiries I have had, please note I only have 2 four week slots available from May, and 4 from June.
I do not have weekly or fortnightly slots available at present.

Happy to discuss your garden and arrange a garden viewing.
Enjoy your bank holiday weekend.

Thank you

A nice week of gardening and visiting new gardens, which some are now added to my schedule.

I even got some time in my little garden in Donington, and hopefully some more time planting tomorrow.

My schedule now only has one slot left in May, but three more plans are currently available from June.

If you are seeking help in your garden, I can always add you to my pending list for any cancellations, over the next few weeks.

With this warmer but breezy weather, it's good time to start ensuring your gardens are watered a few times a week, with the soil drying out quickly, hydration is important for established and new plants in your garden.

Enjoy your garden. Thank you.
