Here is a little job we did for a neighbour.

The ladies husband had given a dry verge system a bash a few years ago and totally got it wrong.

She also wanted the little roof at the back to match the front.

We took off the verge units to find it had been screwed directly into the old mortar, we removed any old mortar and replace it with a fixing batten. Some of the pictures include some shoddy work done by a previous tradesman.

The next part was to re-attach the units correctly.

We then removed the old mortar to the rear of the property, again added a batten to fix new dry verge units to. She was very happy with the outcome as were we.

A few pictures just before completing this bungalow we did this summer.

We are waiting for the verge units and bonding gutters to be delivered here having a nice sun bathe.

The tiles are black marley moderns. Again we removed the old lathe tiles and felt and replace with new breathable felt, 2x1 treated lathe and marley modern tiles.

Introducing bonding gutters to allow for the tile change into next door and any cuts to produce a nice and tight bond up to the gutters. Finished off nicely with dry verge and ridge systems.

We were told the new extension had new lathe and felt installed previously however on inspection the gauge from the builder was not correct so as to give the client the best quality we re-did this to fit our specifications at no extra charge.

The outcome is lovely, the clients were lovely and even gave us a tip :)

This bungalow is a full re roof we did last winter in the wind, rain, pitch black and snow.

We used grey Gemini duo plain tiles which is a lovely tile to use and looks fantastic.

The process was straight forward. Strip old tiles, lathe and felt and any mortar on the verges and replace with new breathable felt, 2x1 treated lathe, dry verge and a vented ridge system.

The outcome is striking and really sets this property off against the others in the the area.

Hello and welcome to our company Hot Roofing (Hopsons on the roof).

Here are some jobs we have recently undertaken.
This job in particular was a tricky diagnosis, in areas the lathe underneath were perished causing the tiles to slip above the chimney.

We got up there to see that there were also leaks around the chimney stack as well as where the lathe had rotted away.

It is always an option to put new lead work around the base of the chimney stack, however, on this occasion the chimney was unused. Because the client and I agreed it was a better and more permanent option to remove the stack completely and repair the area above.
