31st May is getting closer.

The Opus4 team are just a few weeks away from taking on the Great Manchester Run 10K in memory of Nick Crank Senior, raising funds for the MSA Trust.

Dave Murphy, Daniel Blackburn, Nick Richmond, Howard Warman, Abi Murray, Amber Seddon, Bryony Manton, Mike Turton, Mike Kaciubskyj and Nicholas Crank are all lining up with very different targets, from run/walkers to those chasing a sub-40 minute finish. Can you guess who?

Work in progress at

We're currently delivering a full internal fit out within an existing character building, working around structural columns, exposed services and a layout that continues to evolve as the project progresses.

Partitioning, lighting and services are coming together to form a clean, modern learning environment within the original structure. It's at this stage where everything starts to take shape.

More updates to follow as works continue.

Norcliffe House

Delivered for Orbit Developments, this project focuses on structuring a large open floorplate through a series of defined yet connected spaces.

A central hub combines kitchen, seating and breakout areas, with surrounding workstations and meeting rooms arranged to maintain openness while supporting different ways of working.

Material changes, lighting and joinery are used to establish identity across each zone while keeping the overall scheme cohesive.

Thompsons Solicitors relocated their Newcastle office and needed a workplace that felt modern and welcoming, without losing the privacy and professionalism a legal environment demands.

We delivered a 5,450 sqft fit out in 9 weeks. Glazed partitions, open workstations with screen dividers and a herringbone floor finish sit alongside the firm's bold brand graphics, giving the space real character while keeping the focus on function.

A tight programme, carefully coordinated from the outset.

Charter House

Third floor fit-out delivered for Orbit Developments.

The scheme focused on creating a ready-to-occupy workspace with a mix of open plan desks, meeting areas and informal breakout spaces.

A consistent material palette runs throughout, with timber finishes, soft seating and planting used to bring warmth into the space. Feature wall details and lighting help define different areas while keeping the layout clear and easy to navigate.

A practical, well-balanced workspace designed for day-to-day use.

1 month to go until completion.

Our new Opus office is finally starting to feel real. Walking through the space now, you can properly see how it’s all going to come together, from the brick arches to the lighting and steelwork.

It’s been a long time in the making and the team are counting down the days until we’re in. We can’t wait to show you the finished space.

1100 Daresbury Park

Reception refurbishment delivered for Orbit Developments.

The project focused on reworking the main entrance and shared areas to improve how the space functions day to day. The layout was refined to create clearer movement through the reception, with defined zones for arrival, waiting and circulation.

A softer material palette, updated lighting and new joinery bring warmth into the space, while maintaining durability for a high-traffic environment.

Meet Alison Rowbottom, our senior interior designer. She has returned to Opus4, and we’re delighted to have her back, already focused on creating standout visuals that bring client briefs to life. With a strong eye for detail and materials, she is shaping spaces designed to impress.

She was drawn back by the team and the culture and is enjoying being back in the energy of Manchester. At the moment, her desk is covered in fabric samples as concepts for the new office take shape, a clear sign she is straight back into creative mode.

Outside work, Alison enjoys discovering new wines, travelling to new places and relaxing in a good pair of comfy, fluffy slippers. If she could choose a superpower, it would be teleportation, a practical solution to traffic and public transport.

Her favourite quote: “I want to thank me for believing in me.”

How office changes can support staff retention

The workplace has a direct impact on how people work and how they feel at work. Spaces like this show how environment influences daily experience, and research supports this. Only 49% of employees believe their workplace enables them to work productively, highlighting how important well-designed spaces really are.

Breakout and social areas give teams places to step away from their desks, connect with colleagues and recharge. These environments support focus, wellbeing and collaboration, helping create workplaces people want to be part of, not just work in.

If you’re thinking about how your space could better support your team, we can help you explore design changes that improve both experience and performance.
