The importance of regular electrical maintenance or inspection and testing!!
We were recently called to a property in Hadleigh Essex with a report of a solar installation that was working intermittently.
On arriving we found an aged very basic system from the early days of the feed in tariff with little to no records etc. On carrying out some basic testing at the mains we found that there had been a failure in the incoming supply into the property from the network operators equipment leaving the installation incredibly dangerous.
UKPN were very quickly on the scene got digging and worked around the clock to get the service reinstated.
This had been going on for years and if there had been a fault in the house the occupant could have been killed.
The moral.. get your electrics regularly checked.
