Cracking of masonry walls to your home can be caused by a number of different things.

One common cause in older buildings is due to insufficient support over openings such as windows and doors. This often happens when timber frames have been replaced by PVC frames without the addition of a lintel.

A recent project undertaken with KPB Building Ltd (http://www.kpb-building.co.uk/) had this very problem, along with a few others which Pete at Kpb remediated.

- 3 New steel beams
- 1 Beam to Beam connection
- 2 Existing Pier bearing checks
- Localised existing foundation check

Our recent client suffered from cracking along a joint between the house and a porch extension.

The crack sizes changed seasonally and following and investigation of the foundations and soil, it was identified that the structure was undergoing movement due to soil shrinkage and swelling.

Cracks in buildings cam occur for a number of reasons and some are more serious than others. If you have any concerns about cracks to your home or other structures please get in touch for advice or to arrange a survey
