When upgrading a consumer unit, I prefer not to extend the conductors if I can avoid it. It doesn’t always lead to a tidy finish inside the consumer unit, because the conductors are often too short to dress in……but if they reach, without any tension….I think it looking a little untidy is better than having multiple joints in the conductors. What do you think?

We’ve just completed a Full Rewire in St Albans, Hertfordshire…….and now straight onto another one in Harpenden, Hertfordshire. Both include EV charger installation, Ring door bell and camera’s……plus Hive thermostats. ✅
