We are absolutely inundated with blown unit replacements at the moment.
Just today we have replaced 8 in Luton, 12 on two jobs in Codicote, 9 in WGC, 2 in Hitchin, 1 in Letchworth and 7 in Stevenage - as well as 9 pairs of window hinges and a door alignment!
It keeps us busy and saves our customers lots of money as the don’t have to replace the frames, just the glass.

So this week is a bit of a milestone really.
It was this week 40 years ago, straight out of school (I know I don’t look old enough) that I started in the double glazing industry.
I started as a glazier with single glazed glass; then as a glass cutter; then started manufacturing sealed units.
As times changed, we started to manufacture windows and have teams of fitters.
It was then time to buy the glass in and so I started to do sales and then surveying and managing fitters.
All of this was over 27 years.
In 2013 I walked away from all of this, as there was no where to go in the small business we had built and didn’t want to be doing sales for the next 20 years. So JML Window Repairs was born in 2013 and it was the best decision I ever made.
I love doing repairs and everyday can be a school day. You never know everything, including today when I came across something I had never seen in 40 years!
I love working with Jack, my son who has been with me as a partner now for nearly 7 years!

Just because your existing windows have leads or Georgian bars, it doesn’t mean you have to keep them.
Why not create a little more light and a better view and just change the glass to clear.
The frames all stay -
it’s just the glass that is replaced for the latest energy rated glass.
No mess or fuss and a fraction of the cost of new windows.

Today marks 13 years since I took a leap of faith and started JML Window Repairs.

Thirteen years ago, I walked away from a secure job, a steady wage, and the comfort of knowing exactly what the next month would look like — and chose to follow my instincts instead. It was scary, uncertain, and at times completely overwhelming… but it was also one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.
This is also Jack‘s 7th year, which I just find unbelievable as it seems like only yesterday he started.

I’m incredibly grateful to everyone who has supported, recommended, trusted, and believed in the business over the years. You’re the reason it’s still going strong 13 years on.

Here’s to taking chances, backing yourself, and building something you’re proud of — one day at a time.
