The search for the UK's best heating installer

We’ve been fitting these boilers for 10 years now and I love love love them. 18 year warranty with a controller and filter. This one is the crème de la creme, Economiser Plus combi with flue gas heat recovery making it the most efficient boiler in Europe.

We’re also service agents so deliver the warranty. It’s great to be able to promise people the best possible aftercare. I’ve done bags of warranty calls over the years as every manufacturer has warranty calls, and Atag have never quibbled over a thing. We’ve got a hundred or so of these boilers out there and only had a few issues.

Reliable, high performance, mega efficient kit that’s easy to maintain. Proper boiler!

Nesta have launched a new mentoring scheme for heat pump installers, and I was priveleged to be able to talk to them about my experience mentoring installers. I think this is a much needed initiative which is the final piece of the puzzle for the industry.

There are still far too many shoddy installations out there, and I can see this scheme giving installers the confidence to not be part of that problem, and to deliver quality, well functioning heat pump installations because when you know, it's really not that hard! We can all do this. We just need a helping hand to get started.

Our first Viessmann Vitocal 150 air source heat pump installation is complete! This is probably the best domestic heat pump you can get, and I can’t wait to see how it performs.

I’ve had great experience with the old Vitocal 200 range so I’m expecting big things. Most of the actual work here was done by our man Yevgen, and he’s done a cracking job. What a guy.

It’d be good to do something about the unlagged valves on the unit. Something to revisit / improve in the future 🤔. Onto the next one.

Amazing work from the team today. Ben being the main man on the ground for this one leading a team of 6. Exquisite work 👌🏻

I specified a 3 pipe buffer on this one for the first ever time. There was an extensive amount of 22mm hidden behind kitchen units and under floors which couldn’t be upsized. The .uk 7kW unit runs at 1200 l/h so I’ve commissioned the Stratos Pico heating pump to match that, and the loss of efficiency due to this set up will be absolutely minimal.

Powerflushed as standard. VDI2035 filled. Threw in a filter upgrade just because we love trying out new kit. Love a good geek out!

Enjoyed designing this one. It certainly got the grey matter thinking. So happy with the standard of work we all produced here 🙌🏻

We have a date! As of 29 May, air source heat pump planning rules are relaxed. No more planning applications for:

✅ Units within 1m of property boundary. Now you can install as close to the boundary as you like. Sound assessment pass still required.

✅ Twin fan units due to casing size. This has been lifted from 0.6m3 casing size to 1.5m3 which means all domestic units are permitted development and possibly even two, provided the next point is met…

✅ Cascades of 2 units now allowed in detached properties provided the previous point is met regarding max 1.5m3 casing size.

This will make a huge difference to anyone who hasnt got a heat pump due to a planning application requirement from having a unit at the edge of their property and/or being a twin fan unit (over around 8kW) 🥳
