This caused some head scratching this afternoon.

Customer said everytime they use the dryer the power trips.

After doing some testing and inspecting on this garage supply, it become obvious there was high resistence on the socket circuit, testing the cables at the fuseboard everything was fine. Insulation resistence also fine.

So I set about running the appliance whilst checking for earth leakage.

When switched on and working. The customer said they heard a crackle and a flash of light come from the fuseboard.

Loosened both MCB either side of the 32a MCB. And out dropped the bus bar without touching the offending breaker.

Replaced and re installed. All is well again!

Just shows when testing to be very methodical and don't overlook potentially the most simplest of things!

Little jobs overs the last week.

1) Reinstating a supply to a kjtchen extractor. Due to an existing spur already being present at the existing double socket. Extending the ring to two spurs in a dual app 35mm backbox and reposition the socket to the side. To accommodate the existing cables already in situ within the walls/ zone. Easiest way to safely give a supply from the nearest power outlet.

2) After a wall being taken back to brick. A existing supply was left exposed. So conduit was used to tidy it up and give some much needed outlets in the kitchen
Single socket is for behind a fridge. And the double has been taken down to work top height to match existing socket heights within the rest of the kitchen

3) Shower Unit replacement

Just a few from last week I got some pictures of. 🙂👍
