After sharing part of the process previously, this is the final cabinet in its beautiful final form in the Stafford Barracks. Standing at over three metres long it is a mammoth cabinet with a huge amount of storage. The solid oak top looks pristine with its satin finish both protecting the timber for many years to come but also bringing out the natural beauty of the oak. I had the pleasure of picking out the exact pieces I wanted from in their huge supply of hardwoods. The doors and internals are all made from oak veneer ply brought from which really matches perfectly with the solid oak top. The solid oak feet were from which again, tie everything together and keep everything sturdy and solid.

It’s been a hell of a hectic bank holiday weekend in the heat ☀️ Demo and rebuilding of an entire solid oak reception of a school whilst it’s closed for half term. Progress has been good but it’s been hard work in the heat and humidity! This photo is from a few days ago so things are looking a bit different already but this shows the scale of the work! Check back in a few days when things are started to get a little more put back together. 🔨

The starting process of building out the main cabinet for the solid oak top I glued up and posted previously. Once again, using some gorgeous Oak faced Plywood from

Starting by breaking down the sheets into each of the component panels. Taping the edges where the glue will be keeping everything neat and tidy. Glueing and screws to fasten the carcasses together. Removing the tape to a nice clean edge! The last photo shows the stunning grain of the finished boards inside the cabinet. I’ll be edge banding all the visible plywood edges with oak strips further down the line.

Some gorgeous new built-in cabinets for a lovely new customer near Cannock Chase! 🌳 They make much more functional usage of what was quite an awkward space. The oak faced plywood from really came into its own giving a gorgeous frontage to the units. 🪵 Once this is stained and varnished it should look like it has always been there matching all the surrounding woodwork of the staircase. All the drawers have full extension hardware so you can make full use of every inch of space without having to reach into the back of cabinets to find that item you only get at once a year 😂

It’s been a hectic few weeks so I’ve not had the chance to post anything I’ve been working on. Here’s a big glue up of a very exciting cabinet that I’ve been building. The top is over three metres long of solid oak that I’ve milled and glued up. The oak came from and was absolutely stunning! It planed up so well and has gorgeous grain. 🪵

The carcasses are in! A bit of an awkward space to work around with beams and angled ceilings but that really is the forte of bespoke work. Everything can be accounted for and everything can be solved in the most efficient way. There’s still lots of drawer fronts, cupboard doors and face frames to add on but progress is definitely going well! 🪵

Finishing the week starting to put together this double wardrobe set. This was in my workshop just before I packed everything up ready to start building in the customer’s house. A mixture of drawers/shelves/hanging space gives so many possibilities for storage in an awkward space! Stay tuned to see it fit in and all the doors and face frames built!

A bit of a special project here! A stunning bespoke conductor music stand for Painsley Music Department (Painsley Catholic College)🎵Music has played a key role in my life so to be able to link that with a project for the department that helped me grow a love of music was a really cool experience. Made out of oak and teak, I tried to symbolise piano keys with the base section. A real show piece for concerts, shows and much more.
