Old fuse board? Thinking of replacing your old fuse board with a new 17th edition amendment 3 consumer unit? As of January 2016 amendment 3 came into affect. Further to several household fires involving plastic consumer units, investigations by the London Fire Brigade has concluded that a key cause of the fires was substandard cable connections made by the Electrician within the consumer unit. New regulation 401.1.201 states that in domestic environments, consumer units and similar switchgear must be constructed from non-combustible material. This will provide better electrical safety to your property but more importantly for your family or tenants. A 17th edition amendment 3 consumer unit will also ensure your home is up to the current standards of the electrical regulations.
