Grade one restoration and refurbishment, with a new wing to the north, restoring the original courtyard form 150 years after half of the house was lost to fire…. This was a bare bones project with the roof stripped right back and spaces and services restored throughout the house, a complete joy to repair.

One or two challenges were posed by the original construction of our observatory project in Birmingham, but happy that these were met and overcome.

When you are busy building it’s easy to forget about Social Media! As Alvar Aalto said “ I build I do not write” regrettably these days an architect’s options are rather more limited and so much of what we do needs endless paperwork and emails!

One or two projects that have been finished or progressed are long overdue on our page! Starting with this one finished over a year ago.

We’ve been trialing Linseed paints for a few years now and are very impressed with the results.

If you go down to the woods today... there is something surprising we are putting together amongst these trees, not in the woods, but part of a listed house in the second city. Working with Messenger Construction.

News today of new garden and landscape listings by Historic England, and some very fine garden spaces included, York Gate with its Arts and Crafts theme is especially close to our hearts but we are impressed by the others too - especially the industrial landscapes - well worth a look.

Newly announced protections by Historic England are the result of a three-year collaboration with The Gardens Trust.
