Beyond this simple birdbox, one of our designed and built treehouses — created as a luxury holiday let and part of the collection.

Set among the trees in Somerset, the treehouse is designed for slow mornings and simple pleasures, with an outdoor shower and hammock tucked beneath — a quiet place to pause, reconnect, and take in the landscape.

Captured on a bright winter’s day, this project reflects our approach to design: thoughtful, nature-led, and deeply connected to place.

Light, warmth, and connection 🌿

One of our projects, this living room is designed to embrace the garden beyond. Large expanses of glass draw greenery into the space, blurring the boundary between inside and out and filling the room with natural light.

A modern bioethanol fireplace adds warmth and focus, while a reupholstered mid-century rocking chair in vibrant Guatemalan fabric brings colour, texture, and story. Grounded by a Bokhara-style rug, the space balances calm with character — a living room designed for comfort, connection, and everyday moments.

As the Christmas decorations come down this weekend, there’s a gentle shift in the home.

One of our designs, this oak-framed space with expansive glazing holds the last quiet moments of the season. Reflections of the Christmas tree linger in the glass and on the water as soft winter light fills the room.

A time for calm, contemplation, and resetting intentions for the year ahead. If you’re planning changes to your home this year, we’d love to help you create a space that feels balanced, calm, and connected.

Wishing everyone a happy and peaceful New Year ✨🌿

2025 has been a challenging year — one that’s offered space for reflection, realignment, and clarity.

As a new chapter begins for Kaya Design, my work is evolving toward a more holistic approach to architecture, interiors, and energy — designing homes that support balance, wellbeing, and connection.

I’m looking forward to sharing more of this journey with you.

Christmas Day in my happy place 🌲

Tucked inside a giant beech tree trunk, feeling grounded, held, and quietly grateful. Nature has a way of reminding us to slow down, breathe deeply, and reconnect — especially at this time of year.

Wishing you all a peaceful Christmas filled with warmth, presence, and moments that feel nourishing to the soul. 🌿✨

Looking back on a project that still inspires me today ✨

Around 10 years ago, I worked with Hardwood Homes to create one of the most sustainable new housing developments in the Southwest. This Bristol project achieved Code for Sustainable Homes Level 6, the highest rating, setting a benchmark for eco-conscious design.

The development combined energy-efficient architecture, thoughtful material choices, and sustainable construction methods, proving that sustainability, affordability, and beautiful design can go hand in hand. These homes weren’t just about reducing environmental impact — they were designed to feel healthy, comfortable, and nurturing for the people who live in them. 🌿🏡

Designing and building this space for .frome was all about capturing a feeling. 🌊 Bringing a taste of Hawaii to Frome🥯

wanted a space inspired by his time in Hawaii, with colour combinations drawn from the iconic palette. The brief: create a social, community-focused bagel shop that radiates the energy and relaxed vibe of a beach shack — all on a limited budget.

The design brings this vision to life through:

- Warm, reclaimed pallet timber, adding texture, authenticity, and sustainable charm

- Playful colour accents, referencing the Hawaiian waves and sand

- Open, social layout, encouraging connection

Every detail was considered to create a space that’s inviting, vibrant, and grounded in design, turning a humble bagel shop into an experience that feels both local and transportive. 🌿

Soft colour, filtered light, and a moment of quiet 🌿

In this dining space I designed, the red and blue-green tones bring warmth and balance — a gentle contrast that lifts the room without overwhelming it. But the real magic comes from the obscured glazing.

Each winter morning, the movement of the trees casts shifting shadows across the glass, turning what was once a messy outdoor view into a living artwork. A screen of light, texture, and motion — constantly changing, always calming.

A simple reminder that thoughtful design can transform the everyday into something beautiful.

Anchored by oak, softened by lush greenery, and animated by light, this space becomes more than circulation — it becomes an experience.

Placed beneath the skylight, the glass-and-metal chandelier refracts sunlight into delicate, shifting rainbows that dance across the walls in the double-height stairwell, creating a sense of movement. ✨

Design isn’t just structure… it’s atmosphere, energy, and the quiet beauty that unfolds when materials, daylight, and nature work together. 🌿🌈

A quiet moment together in a bird hide on the Somerset Levels — and a reminder of how deeply supported I’ve been over the past two weeks.

Injuring my leg has slowed me right down, but it’s also created space for reflection.
My family have been my physical support, my creative sounding boards, and my gentle encouragers as I lean further into a more holistic and esoteric approach to architecture and interiors.

Slowing down has clarified how much I value designing homes that feel nourishing, soulful, and aligned with wellbeing — spaces that support life on every level.

Change can feel big… but when you’re held this well, it becomes something beautiful. 🌿
Here’s to healing, clarity, and creating from a place of alignment.

Feeling extremely grateful — and excited for what’s unfolding. ✨

Years of paint, weather, and quiet decay…

I’m endlessly inspired by the way materials soften with time, revealing colours and textures we could never create intentionally.
IA quiet reminder that design isn’t only about the new — it’s about honouring history, texture, and the quiet beauty that emerges over time.
Beauty grows in the spaces where nature is aloud to adds to man made design. 🌿

✨ Designing a space where creativity can flourish!

Last year, I collaborated with Growing Places in Stroud to create a popup Gingerbread House for artist residencies. Using locally felled larch from Folly Wood, I built bespoke, adaptable furniture that could evolve with the artists’ needs. 🌿

A project where sustainability, craftsmanship, and creativity meet — and a reminder that thoughtful design can truly nurture the people who use it.
