Important advice from ESF🧐

Button batteries may be tiny - but the risks are huge.

We're supporting the Child Accident Prevention Trust for to remind parents and carers that these batteries are found in many toys, gadgets and remotes. If a child swallows one, it can be fatal.

βœ”οΈ Look around your home for button batteries - found in toys, remotes, gadgets and any spares
βœ”οΈ Store spare and used batteries safely and out of reach of children
βœ”οΈ Dispose of used or β€œflat” batteries straight away. Even β€œflat” ones can still cause serious harm.
βœ”οΈ Check that battery compartments are secure and that no batteries have fallen out.

In carrying out home electrical systems checks (Electrical installation condition reports) or other routine electrical works we've noticed a severe lack of knowledge of the testing of heat/smoke alarms, missing or disassembled alarms, batteries out of 'battery only' alarms or no alarms at all (including carbon monoxide detectors).
Those nuisance beeps are telling you to replace batteries or the alarm itself!!
There is plenty of information to be found on line (e.g. Aico), or speak to any electrician for advice.

Fires (electrical or otherwise) remains a significant risk, Keep safe by checking those alarms

Couple of jobs lately revealed rodent damage. I'm guessing time of year we'll start to see a little more activity in those loft spaces. Remember that mice need only 5mm hole to get through and if using a 'humane trap' release them over a mile + away is recommended!! both rats and mice leave the same type of tell tale evidence... some library and info pictures below 🧐..
