How long does a loft conversion take? 🤔

That’s one of the questions we’re asked most often.

But the more important question might actually be… When do you need to start?

The construction itself may only take around 8–10 weeks, but before your builder can get started, there’s the survey, design, planning or Permitted Development, Building Regulations, structural calculations and sometimes Party Wall notices to consider.

From your first conversation to moving into your new space, the full process can take 6–8 months or more.

This is especially important if you’re planning around family life. Want the build finished before summer? Before the kids start a new school year? Or before GCSE and A-level revision begins?

The best advice? Work backwards from the date that matters to you.
