My latest project, a Sho Sugi Ban style bench, with interlocking ends and dowels to reinforce the joints.

I’m particularly proud of this one, the picture really doesn’t do it justice.

It’s been waxed and buffed to finish and this really made the grain pop.

I love this effect as it really makes pine turn into such a stunning wood. I love working with pine anyway, it’s nice and easy to do virtually anything with, the down side is the slightest knock or bash and you end up with a dent, and when you are trying to make perfection that can be a curse.

I will post a better pic of it in the not so distant future.

The next stage of the shed was to completely waterproof the sides and put a layer of plastic sheeting under where the feather edge boards were going to go.

Yes I know the window looks slightly lopsided, this is because the window is completely level and the base of the shed isn’t… I’d just like to say, I didn’t do the base as I figured that much concrete mixed in a mixer and wheel barrowed in would have completely finished my already bad back.

The windows how ever were found in free cycle which was quite a touch, in fact all the side windows and the doors were found on free cycle so I was very happy with that. Nice to upcycle when you can.

Having finished the toy box, I’m really happy with the result, and having delivered it I have very happy customers 😁 especially two very little cute girls who seem to be very excited with it.

I’d say that was a win win 🏆

Every part of it turned out as I had hoped to the laser lettering and the mechanism that soft closes the lid so there are no ouchies when it closes.

Finally I can get my Bikes out of my wood work shed!!!

With this DIY bike shed, which took me all of 3 days:
- 1 for foundations,
- 1 for structure and waterproofing,
- 1 for creating the door

The hardest part by far was the door, despite my best efforts the door was so heavy it sagged, so bolstering it was fairly tricky, but eventually, was completed with a lovely snug fit keeping the bikes inside nice and dry. With air flow kept in at the base to stop rusting and moulding.

It’s been a while but I’m finally able to do some work in my workshop… making a children’s toy box and preparing the wood before assembly.

The music is a bit juxtaposed listening to the man progression sessions 5. Only way to work in my opinion.

As you can probably tell by the posts I haven’t really had a lot of time for my wood working. That’s because I’m the summer months I run a vintage ice cream van called poppy ()

When I get a holiday period I’m usually asked to build or make something, which I’m happy about as I’m no good sitting around in the sun doing nothing.

This years project was building a 3x3 shed good enough to take 2 bunk beds in mid wales.

One thing I didn’t factor in was the heat, wonders it’s been hot this last week. So it has been slow progress, more shots to follow.

The last few years have been part of this day and I am so excited it is finally here!!!

So a little about me, and what going forward will be called Edge to End.

My dad was a keen creator of things let’s say, creator and restorer. I loved helping him with projects big or small and I guess this is where my passion for wood work came from. I always loved getting involved in the projects as there was always a tangible result, you built something and whether it lasted for a year or 100’s you could say at the end of it I built this.

So for as far as I can remember I wanted to build and create things, and for this reason I went to Uni and studied photography, but part of me wishes I’d done a vocational course in wood work and I’ve been torn between the 2 of them ever since.

So today is the first day of the rest of my life because I’ve quit my 9-5 to finally focus on what I hope will be my income going forward.

This here is the logo I’ve had created for me by Chris Watts a budding talented logo designer and I am happy to show it off to the world. www.krisswattsdesign.com
