🔥 Why You Need to Heat Your Stove FAST
​Getting your stove to operating temperature isn't just about warmth—it's about safety and efficiency. Here’s why we aim for a quick start:
​🚫 Prevent Creosote: Low temps create tar droplets that stick to your flue. This is the #1 cause of chimney fires! High heat keeps those gases moving out safely.
​💨 Fix the Draft: A cold chimney has a "plug" of heavy air that pushes smoke back into your room. Rapid heat "breaks" the plug and gets the air flowing upward.
​✨ Secondary Combustion: Modern stoves are designed to burn the smoke itself for extra heat, but this only happens once you cross 250°C–300°C.
​🪵 The Golden Rule: Use seasoned wood (under 20% moisture). Wet wood wastes energy boiling water and keeps your stove dangerously cold for too long.

If you have a log burner then please do not dry the wood next to, at the side or on top of the log burner.
Drying wood in this way can be dangerous. The wood can smoulder giving off deadly carbon monoxide or may even catch fire itself leading to a house fire. 🔥
We have attended house fires caused in this way. 🔥
