Sometimes the best window in the house isn’t in the wall… it’s in the roof! ☀️

This week, we thought we’d share something a little different from our usual installations.

These photographs show the stages of fitting a beautiful glazed roof lantern, from preparing the roof opening through to installing the glazing and finishing the anthracite grey frame.

And it’s a great reminder that there’s much more to Windowmaker than windows and doors!

🌊 FROM PANORAMIC SEA VIEWS TO THE FACTORY FLOOR! 🏭

Same product. Three very different locations. Three very different working environments.

One of the things we love about what we do at Windowmaker is that no two days, or even two installations, are ever quite the same!

🌊 First stop – Mumbles Road, Swansea.

This week we completed the installation of windows spanning over 4.2 metres, opening up some spectacular panoramic views across Swansea Bay.

And let’s be fair, when you’ve got a view like that, you want windows that make the most of it! 😍

🏡 Next stop – Tonypandy, Rhondda Valley.

A completely different environment, where we’ve now completed the ground-floor window installations at a residential nursing home.

Here, it’s not just about the windows. It’s about working respectfully around residents, nursing staff and the daily routines of a busy care environment, while helping to transform the building as part of a major refurbishment.

🏭 And today – Bridgend.

No sea views this time! Instead, our installation team have been busy fitting new windows and doors in a working factory.

Different surroundings, different challenges, but the same attention to detail.

And that’s what makes our industry so interesting.

One day we’re looking out across the sea, the next we’re working in a residential care home, and the next we’re on a factory floor.

From refurbishments and rebuilds to extensions and brand-new developments, every project brings something different.

The common denominator? Windows and doors.

But behind every installation there’s a different building, a different customer, a different purpose and often a completely different set of challenges.

And that’s where experience really counts.

🏗️ THAT’S A WRAP… WELL, FOR THE GROUND FLOOR ANYWAY! 🪟👏

Another milestone reached, another floor completed, and another step forward for the Windowmaker team!

We’ve officially completed the ground floor window installations on our latest refurbishment project in Tonypandy and before anyone thinks we’re putting our feet up… there are still another 37 windows to go! 😂

It’s now onwards and upwards — quite literally — as we move onto the first floor.

Once the windows are completed, we’ll be turning our attention to the finishing touches, installing contrasting Agate Grey and Black fascias, soffits and guttering to really bring the exterior together.

But there’s no slowing down!

📍 Next stop — Bagshot, where another 44-window project awaits.

And with a little luck, Portsmouth could be following with more of the same! 🤞

It’s encouraging to see our order book developing, with projects taking us further afield and customers continuing to put their trust in what we do.

Whether it’s one replacement window for a family home or dozens of windows across a major refurbishment, our approach remains the same.

A big thank you to everyone involved, from our factory team in Swansea manufacturing the windows to the lads out on site getting them installed.

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿DID YOU KNOW WALES? #13 — THE SECRET WELSH QUARRY THAT SAVED BRITAIN’S ART TREASURES! 🎨

Good afternoon, everyone! 😊

Imagine walking into a disused slate quarry in the mountains of North Wales during the Second World War and discovering some of the world’s most valuable paintings hidden deep underground!

Sounds like something from a wartime spy film, doesn’t it? But this really happened — right here in Wales! 🏴

Between 1941 and 1945, Manod Quarry, near Blaenau Ffestiniog, became the secret wartime home of around 2,000 priceless paintings from London’s National Gallery.

With German bombing threatening London, Britain’s art treasures needed somewhere safe.

There was even a proposal to send them to Canada, but Winston Churchill insisted they remain in Britain.

And where did they end up? Inside a Welsh mountain!

The quarry entrance had to be widened to accommodate enormous paintings, specially controlled storage rooms were constructed, and conservation experts continued caring for the collection throughout the war.

🤫 And here’s something remarkable…

According to a local recollection, people were told that butter was being stored inside the quarry!

Just imagine — some of the world’s greatest masterpieces hidden away while the locals believed it was a rather unusual food store!

More than 80 years later, this extraordinary chapter of Welsh history deserves to be remembered.

❤️ Wales didn’t just provide a hiding place. It helped protect an irreplaceable part of the world’s cultural heritage for future generations.

We’ve been together for 30 years.

At first, everything was wonderful. We were close, we kept each other warm, and we could see a bright future together.

But lately, things have changed…

🥶 There’s a terrible draught between us.

😶 We don’t open up like we used to.

💔 The sparkle has gone.

Apparently, the relationship had been going downhill for some time…

One was accused of being cold

And the second! Well, let’s just say appearances were becoming a bit of an issue! 😳

Even the French doors weren’t safe. 🇫🇷

After years together, the homeowner decided enough was enough.

Out with the old relationships… and in with some rather attractive new ones! 😍

And looking at these photographs, who can blame them?

Beautiful black frames, fresh white French doors, more natural light and a completely different outlook on life.

Three weeks ago we fitted this door… and Cheryl said she’d be back. She was true to her word. 💚

After being delighted with her new front and back doors, Cheryl placed another order with Windowmaker — this time for her windows, which were installed yesterday.

Today she phoned to tell us how thrilled she is with the finished result, with another special mention for John and Dale and the quality and care they showed throughout the installation.

For us, this is what trust, quality, respect and value really look like.
