Installed a new 3-phase sub-main circuit feeding a GRP cabinet housing a 3-phase distribution board.
The board supplies 3 × 415V 3-phase socket outlets, each protected by 32A 3-phase RCBOs, with surge protection installed for additional protection.

A neat, robust installation designed to handle the demands of the new car wash equipment.

Industrial fault finding

A few faults worked through recently across various pieces of machinery:

Voortman V630 – traced intermittent emergency stop/safety circuit issues back through the machine safety chain.

Voortman shot blaster VSB1500 – identified high resistance across auxiliary contacts, affecting the adjacent drill and emergency stop circuit. A temporary link fitted for testing purposes only.

Voortman V550 punch line – intermittent proximity sensor faults traced to broken springs causing movement/positioning issues.

Esprit plasma cutter – diagnosed a control board fault resulting in loss of gas supply to the cutting system.

Saw - faulty variable speed drive for a 220v three phase motor

A good mix of safety circuits, control systems, sensors and machine electronics. Quite often the fault isn't where the symptoms initially point.

Today we successfully replaced the original 22-year-old industrial PC and HMI on a Voortman VSB1500 shot blaster Shufflebottom LTD

The upgrade involved installing a new industrial computer from voortman, Restoring machine communication, and carrying out functional testing to ensure the control system operated correctly before handing the machine back to production.

Replacing obsolete industrial hardware is an effective way to improve reliability, reduce the risk of unexpected downtime, and extend the service life of legacy machinery without the cost of a complete machine replacement.
