Wall Games Northampton day 1, bit of a soggy one!

Last week I asked you lot to pray for good weather for me for this weekend, but you are clearly all atheists as it definitely didn't work :D

Didn't get an awful lot done today as the rain just kept coming down heavier and heavier until I had to give up completely at around 3 ish.

But I've got my background clouds in, and the sketch for my main image to paint tomorrow (you can see some of that over my shoulder in the soggy selfie). So hopefully I can hit the ground running in the morning and git 'er done (forecast is looking a little better for tomorrow than today, thankfully!)

Nice view of the Northampton Guildhall from my spot, I am right opposite the main museum/art gallery, so lots of passers by saying hi to me today, despite the weather.

And I'm away on my painting travels again....

Super excited to be painting this weekend at the massive Wall Games paint festival in Northampton. With well over 300 graffiti, street and mural artists painting live on Saturday and Sunday throughout the town, I believe they have laid claim to being the biggest event of its kind in Europe this year!

They have given me a good sized spot to paint (7 feet tall by 15 feet wide), directly opposite the Northampton Museum and Art Gallery, so, no pressure!! I had better come with my A game 😱

Weather forecast looks a bit pants, mind 🌧☂️ which won't help :/ If you are the praying kind, please put in a good word for me for not tooooo much rain!

Appreciate it's a long way away from Wiltshire where most of you lot who follow my page are based, but hey, if you just happen to be in Northants this weekend, pop by and say hello :)

And here are those photos.

Wings are a classic design, and I have heard my fellow mural painters (mainly American, as I think they get asked for them a LOT over there) moaning about having to paint yet moooooore wings. But these were my very first ones, and I had a blast painting them. Especially as the request was for rook (ie black) wings - so I could go all out with my favourite blues and purples for the highlights and make them kinda cool and goth! 🖤

And of course they are fun to pose with, which is the whole point of them.

There are new guests checking in to the holiday let this afternoon, I believe - I hope they enjoy their brand new mural.

I started a new mural job this morning, but it was cut short by this weird, wet stuff falling out of the sky. No idea what that was!!! I thought we just had 🌞 these days.

I am sure that the fields and gardens were very grateful though.

So, in the meantime, here's a cracking new photo of a Star Wars mural I painted a couple of years back. When I painted it, the room was still unfinished, so no flooring, skirting boards etc. This is the first time I've seen it all put together, looks good!

I had a really fantastic day yesterday at the Random Hands paint fest in beautiful Cwmcarn in South Wales, surrounded by forests and hills.

It was mine and my other half Jay's second year at this one, and it was as friendly and fun as before.

We painted on boards in the beer garden of the Fork and Tune pub, which was the hub for the event, and these are now being auctioned off, for anyone who might want an 8 foot tall Murals by Sarah original of a moon gazing jackalope at a bargain price! (you will have to collect it from the pub, though :) )

FIIIIIIINAAAALLLLYYYYYY!!!

My Shedio! It's all built and painted and stocked and perfect!

Watch the video all the way through with sound up to see it in all its glory, and hear a grown woman blab on and on and ON about how she is in love with a bloody shed 😀

I had a last minute mural cancellation this weekend just gone, and usually that might be a bit annoying, but honestly this time I was flipping delighted, as it meant that at last I had some time to put the finishing touches on this beauty.

Did I mention that I love it????

Timeline: (honestly I think they built the pyramids quicker)

Nov 2025: shed is delivered in kit form, plan is for oldest son and his pals to build it
Feb 2026: give up waiting for son and pals, and pay a local landscaping firm to repave the base area and build the shed
Mar 2026: son redeems himself by doing all the interior plastering and waterproofing
Apr 2026: electrician gets power and lighting sorted,I paint the interior, and flooring is fitted (got a lot done this month!)
May-Jul 2026: sloooow (as I have very little free time!) move of all the shelving units and furniture and paints and equipment from my old studio room (soon to be toddler grandson's bedroom) down to the new shedio
Aug 2026: wood staining the outside of the shed, putting some art up, and other finishing touches.
Aaaand done!

PS ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

I know almost all of my page followers on here are from Wiltshire, but...if you fancy a drive out to the beautiful Welsh Valleys!

I painted at this event in Cwmcarn near Newport last year with my other half and lots of other great artists, and it was so much fun, we are going back :)

The event is this coming Saturday (15th) from noon, centred on the Fork and Tune pub but with walls (and boards, and vans, and anything else that stands still) getting painted throughout the village. Lovely part of the world. Looking forward to it.
