All our wood chip goes for biomass, timber is logged for firewood and where suitable timber can be left stacked on site for habitat creation. What a difference 8 months makes. Its great to see this willow putting on some growth since we re pollarded it back in December.
Re pollarding should be done every few years to keep the trees to a manageable size, and prevent limbs snapping out under their own weight, and becoming a hazard. A few of the limbs on this had already snapped and were left hanging in the crown creating a safety hazard. All the woodchip and logs were recycled into biomass for power stations, so nothing went to waste.

A nice end to the week. This silver birch was half dead and had a large cavity at the base, based on this the decision was made to remove the tree. The cavity made the tree unsafe to climb so a tracked cherry picker was used. This will go through a standard pedestrian gate, so access is rarely an issue.
Having the correct kit made the job safe and efficient, with all wood chip and logs being recycled. The tree trunk was left standing as this is good habitat for wildlife.

A nice 2 metre crown reduction on this big old oak. The tree has a Tree Preservation Order so we were limited in the amount that could come off. A big tree and a small drop zone with no cherry picker access, made this job challenging but also highly rewarding for the team, knowing this should prosper for many years to come.
