Finally a break in the weather. Land drains dug and back filled with 40mm washed gravel. 80 tonnes of type one spread and compacted around the house to smarting the area up. The skid steer is proving to be a very handy machine to move materials about. πŸ‘ŒπŸ‘ŒπŸ‘πŸ‘

One good thing about this wet weather is you can quickly tell if your trench is running the right way πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚. A very wet and muddy few days putting in a few field drains in a famers field to try and help get the water away.

The weather was definitely against us on this job. Started late November to build a flat area for a client to enable them to install a nice wee sauna in the garden. This needed founds dug and the first block wall built. Then back filled and another block wall built to retain the bank. A concrete slab floor with a run on it to allow water to drain into the acro channel. Rendered and a coping stone on top.
A massive thanks to Ian and Elizabeth for getting me back in to do more work and for keeping me fuelled up with cups of tea and bacons roll to keep me goingπŸ˜‹πŸ˜‹πŸ‘ŒπŸ‘ŒπŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

Phase one , pond dug out for a water supply, water tanks dug in and connected up, rock broken out and the track to the pods built. One pod site quickly levelled before having to head to the next job. Big thanks to Ryan at Murry plant for supplying me with a breaker and getting it up the road in sort notice , very much appreciated, great service.

A challenging job came up to clear a few large trees that had come down in the last storm and fallen on top of a hydro scheme dam. The only problem was that it was down a 15 metre ravine, so the best option was to winch the trees and brash back up the hill. The winch attaches onto the hydraulics of the 5T digger and has a pull capacity of 9T, excellent piece of kit! Working with my brother brought back fun memories as we installed the hydro scheme roughly 14 years ago. Thankfully the dam survived the tree landing on itπŸ‘ŒπŸ‘ŒπŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚οΏΌοΏΌοΏΌ

Alasdair and I had the fun job of lowering the ground level inside a house to make space for under floor heating to be installed. We wanted to know how much material we had to shift by hand,so we counted the wheel barrow loads we took out of the house by leaving a stone on the fire place every time the barrow was filled. Then we weighed a full wheel barrow at the local quarry weigh-bridge and worked out we moved 74 wheel barrows at 120 kgs each, roughly giving a grand total of 8.8 Tonnes. Wheelbarrow nerd fact of the week πŸ’ͺπŸ’ͺπŸ˜³πŸ˜³πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

A big thanks to Mackenzie welding for getting me involved in helping them on two jobs. The skid steer working a treat and makes life a lot easier. First job, totally replacing a bridge and rebuilding it with new materials, second job replacing some concrete panels with new metal hatches at Cruachan dam to make access easier and safer.

When a client asked me back to do the ground works for a sauna and a plunge pool, of course I said yes! Foundation poured and with the help of DJ Campbell’s hiab, the sauna was lifted into place. AοΏΌ plunge pool tank was sunk into the ground and the rain water down pipes from the house were used to fill the tank. Final wee touches to be finished off οΏΌ
