We are looking for an experienced, motivated, and hands-on Materials Testing Technician & BSI Quality Manager to join our growing ready-mix concrete and aggregates business.
This is a key role within the company, responsible for maintaining the highest standards of product quality, compliance, and technical performance across our quarrying, aggregates, and ready-mix operations.
The successful candidate will work closely with operational teams, batching plants, quarry management, and external auditors to ensure all products consistently meet industry standards and customer expectations.
Key Responsibilities
* Carry out sampling and testing of:
* Ready-mix concrete
* Aggregates
* Sand
* Perform on-site and laboratory testing in line with:
* BSI standards
* EN standards
* Quality management procedures
* Manage and maintain the company’s:
* BSI Quality Management Systems
* Factory Production Control (FPC)
* Accreditation documentation
* Prepare for and lead external BSI audits
* Maintain calibration records and testing equipment
* Investigate quality issues and implement corrective actions
* Produce technical reports and compliance documentation
* Work alongside plant managers and operational staff to improve product consistency and efficiency
* Ensure compliance with health & safety and environmental procedures
* Assist with mix design monitoring and materials performance analysis
Requirements
* Experience within:
* Ready-mix concrete
* Quarrying
* Aggregates
* Civil engineering materials testing
* Knowledge of:
* BSI standards
* Concrete and aggregate testing procedures
* Quality assurance systems
* Ability to work independently and manage multiple sites
* Good IT and reporting skills
* Full UK driving licence
* Strong communication and organisational skills
Preferred Qualifications
* Concrete Technology qualification
* Experience managing ISO / BSI systems
* NVQ or equivalent in construction materials testing
* Familiarity with UKAS or third-party accreditation systems
