It's that time of year, Father's Day coming up, summer visits, family staying for longer.
We've done a few jobs lately that have come from exactly this situation. A family member needs a bit more help getting around, and suddenly the house needs to work differently.

Grab rails by the bath. A handrail on the stairs. A ramp at the front door. These aren't big structural projects, they're often a day's work, but the difference they make to someone's confidence and independence at home is huge.

We do a lot of this kind of work, and genuinely find it one of the most worthwhile things we do. It's practical, it's quick, and for the person who needs it, it changes things.

One thing Pete learned from 20 years in estate agency: buyers notice bathrooms immediately.

Before he got into property work full time, he spent over two decades in the industry, eventually as a director at one of the most well-known agencies in South Devon.
The thing that always struck him - Buyers make up their minds in the first 90 seconds. And the bathroom is almost always one of the deciding factors.

It's done! Watch the video of the before and after for the little cottage bathroom at Hennock. It has been restored to a beautiful and practical space, with a little love thrown in. 💙

This bathroom had to be suitable as the homeowners are still deciding to either sell or rent, so this gives them an option for both, without work having to stop while life throws you curveballs!

See the heart detail on the side of the sink unit? Finishing touches like this make a huge difference to the feel of a room and we have to say, we think it's cute!

A few snaps showing the progression of one of the smallest bathrooms we've had to work on in Bovey Tracey! The loo is actually round to the left but we couldn't get it all in the photos! We've had to think strategically with this space and even leave space to add a washing machine.

This is in a small cottage that has some very uneven floors and walls, so we had to be a bit clever with the drainage and level the walls and floors as best we can.

Adding a bit of colour makes the space seem a bit bigger, and adding in the details is the fun part.

Another good day's work building a little stone wall from the hundreds of stones we dug up, to level this tiny frontage of an old building in Hennock. The plan is to add a small black picket fence, a little bistro set and some plant pots to finish this cute country cottage!

Reusing materials is our favourite (and the customers!) not only to save costs, but to ensure the property's style remains in keeping with its era and its neighbours.

We love village projects, because not only are they fun to do, but the animals are friendly! 🐈🏇

Outside again, at a property in Hennock, Bovey Tracey. This time we've roped in Pete's son to tackle the small but mighty front garden of this 1800's terraced cottage. We've dug and moved so much soil and hundreds of stones, in prep to re-slab this and return it to it's former glory. Beautiful property, the sun is shining, and one more benefit to this village - the cats are friendly!
