If I wanted to transform my garden without wasting money on things I’d regret, here’s exactly what I’d focus on.
When it comes to giving their garden a glow up, most people make the same common mistakes and end up with a result they’re not completely happy with. Get the following right to ensure you love everything about your finished garden, and for less money than you think.
1. Choose one area to start on. Looking at the garden as a whole feels utterly overwhelming. To the point where you won’t ever even start. Choosing one area to focus on means your efforts translate into results quickly!
2. Audit your one area, so you know what to keep and what to dig out. Think Marie Kondo style, does it bring you joy? Nope, then it’s got to go.
3. Dig out the things that are bringing your vibe down one 20 minute gardening session at a time. Our brains have a negative bias, so that sad looking shrub you hate is always going to be the thing you see when you look out the window. Set a timer for 20 minutes and get it gone!
4. Decide how you want to use that area AND how you want it to make you feel. Entertaining areas might feel fun, vibey and energising. Chill out or meditation areas should feel calming and peaceful.
5. Add in sensory plants that create the feeling you want to create. Bold clashing colours, increase your energy. Cool muted blues and whites calm the mind.
The gardens that truly bring their owners joy are never the ones with the biggest budgets, they’re the ones where someone took the time to get the foundations right first.
Save this and follow along for more handy advice that will stop you making costly mistakes.
