Safehouses is a well established Independent Fostering Agency operating in East Anglia and Essex. The agency was established in 1997 by an ex foster carer who wanted to provide a better service for children who were fostered. So, Safehouses was set up in order to provide a quality, needs-led service to looked-after children and young people, at the same time providing round

the clock support for foster carers. It sought to provide safe and loving foster homes for children to live, to promote educational achievement, and to help young people make the difficult journey into independence. The agency has continued to operate in accordance with these goals over the years and has proved to be very successful in helping the children and young reach their potential. Safehouses is an approved contractor for Local Authorities, including London Care Councils. Our last Ofsted report saw us retain our ‘Outstanding’ Status, an achievement of which we are proud. In January 2014 we merged with another fostering agency and became part of the Next Step Group.
