As the weather improves it’s got me thinking back to last summer; for the first time since starting live slow we packed up our camper and headed out for a European adventure. 7 countries in 23 days, it was a great opportunity to remind ourselves why I build and how we fell in love with vanlife.

We also learnt a few things down the road;

If Google maps say it will take 4 hours it will take longer…a lot longer
Wind out awnings (Thule, Fiamma) are handy
Install a bug net or embrace the dark and big skies
‘Vanlife’ is best observed in Slovenia, alive and well (but maybe not in august…)
Take a hammock and some rope
You can’t have enough fridge space, cold fizz for the win
Always have a back up camp, and maybe a back up for the back up
Crossing the alps via a high pass is a must
Less is more, as ambitious as our plan was in the time we could spare I can’t help feeling we could have seen less and taken in more…notes for the next one 🗺️ 🚐💭

It’s been a busy winter, lots of changes to life and our family. Moving house and renovating in a matter of weeks really did put everything we have learnt to the test; and some new skills picked up. On a warm mid feb day we welcomed baby Otis into the world, fit and healthy…life changing does not cover it. As we adapt to this new adventure and a small routine begins I pick up the tools and do what I know. A changed person.

I’m excited to share our next projects.
