The magic lies in the contrast.

Weathered steel and wildflowers.

Structure and softness.

Each makes the other stronger.

“Beyond the transformation, the real success of a garden is how it makes you feel.

Calm. Grounded. Connected to nature.

What began as bare earth is now a landscape designed to slow the eye, quiet the mind and deepen the connection to its surroundings.” Swipe for more before and after

Good design is not just something you see, it’s something you feel.

The spaces we live in quietly shape mood, behaviour and wellbeing every day. Gardens have the ability to calm, restore and reconnect us to nature in a way few environments can.

“Space is not emptiness, it’s a design tool.

Space creates calm, tension, proportion and beauty. Without emptiness, nothing stands out.

Before and after of a project completed in autumn 2025.

From the outset, the instinct was to create a garden that invited you to walk through it to reach the house. Parking was moved away from the front approach, allowing the entrance to become an experience rather than simply an arrival.
Stepping through the gates, the intention was for people to wander amongst the planting, with the seasons woven throughout the garden. Blossom trees for spring, drifts of early bulbs, and layers of colourful, textural perennials stitched together with evergreen topiary to give structure and permanence year round.

Not every idea makes it through.

The design phase is a process of testing, adjusting and quietly discarding what does not hold up. Proportions are pushed, layouts are reworked, materials reconsidered, planting reshaped.
What you see here is not a first idea. It is the result of many decisions made along the way, removing what distracts and refining what strengthens the space.
Clarity comes from that process.
The final scheme always looks simple, but it rarely starts that way.

Option 01 was selected for construction.

March, on site.
Early stages, where the key decisions are made.
Working with architects and contractors to set structure, levels and planting from the outset.
Trees tagged and reserved.
Some gardens will take two years. Others will complete within the year.

A landscape is never the work of one discipline. It is the result of a team who can read the land, the levels and the living material with equal fluency — ensuring the design is executed with clarity, precision and care on site.
With the right landscape contractor, design intent is not just followed, it is understood. Soil is handled at the correct time, planting is set in response to aspect, drainage and microclimate, and every decision supports long term establishment and climate resilience.
Unlike static architecture, we are working with a changing environment. Weather alters the programme. Ground conditions reveal the unexpected. Dimensions are refined by eye. The value of experience is the ability to pivot calmly and precisely, so what is built remains true to the original vision.
Clients commission me for the design and I bring together the teams best suited to deliver it. I have worked in close collaboration with for over 15 years under Andrew’s direction, and that long standing relationship brings a shared language of construction, horticulture and craft that allows each garden to feel effortless, grounded and built to last.

Designing with light allows the garden to be experienced as a series of connected spaces rather than a single view.

This is where architecture, landscape and atmosphere become one.

A year of designing gardens at scale.

From medieval manors to new build gardens, and the careful reimagining of existing spaces.
Each project shaped by its setting, its history, and how people want to live within it.

What drives my work is scale and variety.
Large landscapes, layered gardens, and spaces with room to breathe.
Formal courtyards, seven acre settings, hospital gardens designed for pause and recovery, and private gardens reshaped into places to stay.

These projects are now built, in build, or scheduled well into 2026.
Designing ahead, thinking long term, and creating gardens that will continue to evolve long after construction ends.

A year of ambitious work, trusted relationships, and gardens designed to last.
