Came across this one today in a house in Torpoint 🫣
Removed a kitchen light and just thought at first that whoever had put it up didn’t have a connector and had just twisted the earth cables together🙁 Then I removed the tape from the live connector and……..! Amazingly there had not been a fire.
The person who had put this up was not an electrician.

A couple of photos showing what heat is generated from GU10 halogen lamps in downlighters. This is above the ceiling with no fire protection, oh and a nice little nest of bare connectors to boot!
All replaced with a couple of maintenance free junction boxes and fire rated led downlighters all round 👍😁
