🐝 BEES OR WASPS? — KNOW THE DIFFERENCE! 🐝
With warmer weather comes an increase in buzzing insects, but not every flying, stinging insect is the same. Knowing the difference between bees and wasps can help you decide whether you have a harmless visitor or a potential pest problem.
🐝 BEES
Bees are generally rounder, hairier and often have a more golden or brown appearance. They play a vital role in pollination and are an important part of our ecosystem. If you spot bees around your property, they should be left alone where possible.
🐝 WASPS
Wasps tend to have a slimmer body, a smooth appearance and the familiar bright yellow and black colouring. Unlike bees, wasps can sting repeatedly and may become increasingly defensive if their nest is disturbed.
⚠️ WHY ARE WASPS CONSIDERED A PEST?
As summer progresses, wasp colonies can become much more active and defensive. Nests may be built in lofts, roof spaces, wall cavities, sheds, garages, gardens and other areas around your property.
A wasp nest can become a problem when:

➡️ A nest is close to doors, windows or busy areas
➡️ Wasps are becoming aggressive or defensive
➡️ Children, pets or vulnerable people are nearby
➡️ You’re seeing large numbers of wasps around your property
🚫 DON’T DISTURB A WASP NEST YOURSELF
