🔑 A spare key now could save you money later.

Many people think the dealership is their only option—but for many vehicles, we can supply and program genuine or quality aftermarket spare keys at your home or workplace, often for less.

🎥 In this reel, we’re programming a new key to the KVM (Keyless Vehicle Module) on a Land Rover. The KVM securely stores the vehicle’s authorised keys, so every new key must be programmed to it before it will start the vehicle. The process typically takes around 60 minutes.

⚠️ Vauxhall Corsa D owners — quick warning

If your car battery goes flat, you could suddenly find:
• Keys not working
• Car won’t start
• Immobiliser issues

This is a very common issue on Corsa D models — the BCM (Body Control Module) can lose sync with the ECU after a voltage drop.

💡 Important.
Many garages will say:
• “You need a new BCM”
• “Take it to the dealer”

👉 In most cases, that’s not necessary. Nothing is actually “broken”. It’s usually a security sync issue, not a faulty module. We can diagnose and fix it on-site.

📍 We attended a customer in Paignton with this exact issue today.

✔ Restored communication between BCM & ECU
✔ Reprogrammed and relearned the keys
✔ Got the vehicle starting and locking properly again

No new parts needed 👍

📞 Don’t get caught out
This issue is very common on Corsa D models —especially in colder months or with older batteries.

🚗 Locked your keys inside your car? Here’s how we usually get you back in.

Being locked out of your vehicle is frustrating, but it doesn’t always mean damage is inevitable. At South Devon Auto Locksmiths, our goal is always to gain entry using the least invasive method possible.

Here’s how we approach it:

🔑 1. Picking the lock
Our first choice is always to pick the door lock, allowing us to unlock the vehicle just as the correct key would. This is completely non-destructive when the lock is in good condition.

🛠️ 2. Air wedges & specialist entry tools
If the door lock is damaged or can’t be picked, we carefully create a small gap using an air wedge before using specialist tools to safely unlock the vehicle from inside. This is another non-destructive method used on many vehicles.

🪟 3. Last resort – window entry
Some vehicles become deadlocked, meaning they cannot be unlocked from inside once locked. In these rare cases, the only option may be to remove or replace a window to gain access. We only recommend this when every other safe option has been exhausted.

💬 Every vehicle is different, so the best method depends on the make, model and the condition of the locks. Our priority is always to get you back into your vehicle while causing as little disruption as possible.
