You often notice tree problems more once the weather changes.
A branch tapping against the roof.
Deadwood moving around in stronger winds.
A large limb hanging over the driveway.
Dense growth sitting close to gutters or buildings.
By late summer, trees are still in full leaf, so you get a useful picture of their size, weight and relationship with the surrounding property.
Winter preparation starts with observation.
Look at where the tree sits, what sits underneath the crown and how much the tree has grown during the year.
Sometimes pruning makes sense.
Sometimes removing deadwood is enough.
Sometimes the best decision is to leave the tree alone.
