☀️ Gardening in this heat isn’t for the faint-hearted! 🌿💪
Another garden transformed with freshly planted raised beds, despite the soaring temperatures. While it’s tough work for us, it’s even tougher on new plants, so giving them the best start is essential.
A few top tips if you’re planting during hot weather:
💧 Water deeply in the early morning and/or late evening – little and often isn’t as effective as a thorough soak.
🌱 Apply a layer of mulch to help lock in moisture and keep roots cool.
☀️ Keep an eye on new plants for signs of heat stress, especially during the first couple of weeks.
🌿 Don’t panic if they look a little droopy during the day – many plants recover once temperatures drop. If they’re still wilted by the evening, it’s time for a good drink.
🚿 Water the soil around the base of the plant, not the leaves, to reduce evaporation and encourage strong root growth.
These borders will fill out beautifully over the coming months, rewarding a little extra care now with years of colour and interest.
